Which client-version for HPUX?

Hi, I have to install a Hobbit client on a HPUX-System. A while ago, someone posted a link to a download area for pre-compiled clients (http://www.razorsedge.org/~mike/software/hobbit/hpux/) so, I can get the client. But, the question is, which one should I use? 11.00 or 11.11? Uname-string of the system is: HP-UX <host> B.11.23 U ia64 3893899274 unlimited-user license And, how do I install those "depots"? Can someone give a short description, or tell me where I can find it? I'm not really familiar with HP-UX, my world is SUN Solaris and Linux, :-). Combo tests / feature request

Hi list, I'm using combo tests to test cluster logic. In one of the cases we're using a combo test for 2 IP addresses/cluster nodes. If an engineer plans work on one of the 2 cluster nodes (s)he disables all tests related to that cluster node, resulting in a blue status for them. But this situation turns the combo test RED, which is normal according to the documentation: "A simple test - e.g. "Web1.http" - results in the value "1" if the "http" test for server "Web1" is green, yellow or clear. It yields the value "0" if it is red, purple or blue." In our case disabling the combo test would also be required too to prevent alerts being generated for the combo test. My request is that it would be nice to have the ability to define which colours have a 1 value and which have a 0 value, which would make combo rules even more flexible. It might be that this behaviour is already available, but then I have overlooked this. What are your thoughts? Jelle Smet.

procs monitor size fluctuations

Hi, I started seeing weird behavior with one of my Hobbit clients 2 days ago and it's got me stumped. What's happening is that my 'procs' monitor is changing from red to green every polling cycle. When it is red, the monitored process list shows about half my monitored processes are down. However, doing a 'ps' on the client itself shows that these processes are actually running. I noticed that during the red cycles, the active process list is consistently about 100 lines shorter than when the procs monitor is green, so the Hobbit server is marking the processes down since they aren't being reported by the client. It doesn't look like the client messages are being being truncated by the server(no messages regarding truncation in the hobbitd logs anyway), but I raised the MAXMSG_STATUS and MAXMSG_CLIENT on the server, with no obvious effect. I also don't see any network issues between to the client and the server, and no extreme loads on either. I'm stuck.... BTW - I'm running the 4.2.0 software. The client is Solaris 10, the server is SuSE Enterprise 9.4. This is a small snippet, taken from my hobbit server, First, from the histlogs directory. strange behaviour

Hi, I use some externals scripts on several xymon clients (4.2.3), reporting a to xymon server (4.2.3) on linux. I configured my xymon server to get graphs using NCV/SPLITNCV on some of the external scripts. Almost all is perfect. Graphs are done, values are correct... But, in trends page, i've some links under some of my own graphs. Some tests have 2 or 3 links, other have 1, and some none... The links are pointing to the same URL than the graphs theirselfs, but one parameter is different. Acknowledged alerts & Hobbit restart

Hi List, When acknowledging a red status, alerts associated with this status stop being send out as expected. If however Hobbit is restarted, the acknowledged state is kept as seen in the web pages, but the alerts are send out again. Acknowledging the already acknowledged alert, stops the outgoing alerts again. We're currently running Hobbit Monitor 4.2.0 with the all-in-one patch. I know there are more recent versions but I can't seem to locate any bug fixes referring to this behaviour. Is this known behaviour to someone? Thanks Jelle Smet

Answering my own question here. On all of my systems - and all of a friend's systems, all running RHEL 5.3 - the LIBRTDEF = -lrt Makefile workaround does not work. NTP ext script with threshold warning

Hi, Although the built-in "ntp" test works great and is simple to implement, is there a Hobbit-compliant external script available that allows ntp to be checked on a number of clients and send an alert if the time is not in sync with the Hobbit server by, say 1 or 2 seconds? I've been trying to migrate the BB-centric script bb-ntp-1.5.sh which does this, but I thought I should either write a simpler one for Hobbit or see if there is one already available. Thanks,

Using ldap accounts with Xymon

Need a little help - I am setting up a RHEL5 64 bit server that has apache2 ssl enabled and other web apps using ldap to control logins. I would like to do this for Xymon - having one set of accounts to view and another set of accounts to do the admin functions. Openssl and a php ldap setup exist on the server already. (I believe it calls openldap client under its code). I do get the certificate from the server for the ssl piece, but want to get rid of the htaccess file and replace with ldap authentication. So my question is - can I do this , and if so, how about a how to? Google seems very sparse on this, I have the wikibook listing but wonder if there is more info out there that's useful to those of us not so familiar with ldap configurations.
