I am trying to install xymon notes editor but am coming up with an error. When I click on the administration tab and then edit notes, I get an internal server error. As a side note, when the 500 internal server error page shows up, it mentions to contact server administrator. When is that set? Warning threshold for ping and email alert

Is there a way to set a warning/critical threshold for the "conn" ping test? EG. can I get it to show yellow/red when pings hit a defined amount such as 2000ms+? To send email alerts from Xymon - do I need to setup mail in CentOS first and it should be automatic? Propagating client-side external tests to more than one BBDISPLAY

I have the following setup for several of my clients where their Xymon Server is configured send reports to their local Xymon server which then updates my Xymon server over VPN links like so: Site1-xymon-clients --> Site1 Xymon Server --> My Xymon server Site2-xymon-clients --> Site2 Xymon Server ---/ / / Site3-xymon-clients --> Site3 Xymon Server -----/ / Site4-xymon-clients --> Site4 Xymon Server -------/ Site1-Site4 hobbitserver.cfg: --[snip]-- BBDISP="0.0.0.0" BBDISPLAYS="<local xymon ip> <my Xymon IP>" --[snip]-- My Xymon server's bb-hosts file is configured such that each remote site has it's own link on my main Xymon page and below that Site link is their Xymon main page where all reports and sub pages are represented in the same format as their local Xymon server's layout. The only remote tests/reports that are not being propagated to my Xymon server are those that are generated by client-side external scripts. My question: Can reports generated by client-side external scripts be propagated to a second BBDISPLAY server: A: Without using bbproxy and B: Without modifying the BBDISP and BBDISPLAY variables in the clients' hobbitclient.cfg file to directly send reports to two BBDISPLAY servers -- Bill Arlofski Reverse Polarity, LLC

Hi all I have noticed, if you run BBWin, you get the svcs column, showing all the services running on the client. And, the server understands this test. I can add entries into hobbit-client.cfg along the lines of HOST=foo SVC "SomeService" startup=automatic status=started COLOR=red and if the service isn't running it will change to a red status. I want the same functionality for Solaris services. I wrote a very simple test for Solaris services (see below), but of course, that's a client-side test, and the services to alert on can't be configured at server side. (It will also only register services in maintenance mode, not disabled services) I thought maybe I could hack the hobbitclient-sunos.sh to send the stuff under the [svcs] heading, like BBWin does, but that didn't work. (I assume there is some logic defining what the server expects from each client type) I even went so far as to massage the output of svcs -aH to look at least similar to the BBWin svcs output. I would like to be able to have a Solaris client, sending service info, and be able to define entries in hobbit-client.cfg similar to this HOST=foo SVC /system/cron STATE=online COLOR=red And have the server bleat if that service isn't online. What would that require to make work? Wildcards in client-local.cfg

Hi all Anybody had any luck using wildcards in the hostname definition of client-local.cfg? Is it even possible. I have no problem with [dbserv01] log:/var/adm/messages:10240 Other stuff However, I am not having much luck with wildcard entries like [%dbserv..|dbdev..] log:/var/adm/messages:10240 Other stuff This would save me a lot of time and effort, but not managing to make it work. Any tips? Or is it just not going to work? Regards Vernon

New UPS monitor added to Xymonton

I just added a new entry to the Xymonton monitors page. The set of scripts is to monitor and graph AC input voltage, AC output voltage, battery charge %, battery voltagee, and UPS Load % of UPSes monitored by the Network UPS tools (NUT) suite. NUT is a great open-source UPS monitoring project who's primary goal as stated on their website is: "...to provide reliable monitoring of UPS and PDU hardware and ensure safe shutdowns of the systems which are connected. We attempt to monitor every kind of UPS and PDU, given sufficient interest." NUT may be found at http://www.networkupstools.org/ The latest versions of the xymon_nut_*.sh scripts, as well as instruction on installing them may be found at http://www.revpol.com/xymon_nut_scripts Hope these are useful to someone. :) P.S. I am not affiliated with the NUT project in any way other than that I recommend, install and support it at my client's sites. At present it reports on the following: "pmem" - can be used to check physical memory size - I set this up to ensure teh service console VM on ESX hosts had sufficient memory allocated "route" - check that a host has the correct default route configured - I had a couple of hosts that "lost' their default route, so wanted to make sure that wouldn't happen again "who" - any root login shows yellow. Lists currently logged in users If additional sections are added on clients in the hobbitclient script, this script can be extended to report on those. XymonExt.pm ----------- Based on the BigBrother.pm script from deadcat.net, with various xymon extensions. Can be used on the xymon server to query bb-hosts for various test tags, and on any client to query xymon server, track test colours and report in various ways. $ perldoc XymonExt.pm XymonExt - Perl extension to simplify writing XymonExt external scripts in PERL. IP address - from where?

Hi all Probably need some of the coder types to answer this one for me. For the different network tests, where does Xymon get the IP address from? In particular, ping, ssh, oratns, dns etc. I think I read somewhere that for ping, Xymon does a host name lookup. But is this the case for the other tests? Thanks Vernon

Xymonton code download question

Has anyone worked out how to create a link in Xymonton to directly download the code of a test? The monitor page template has a Download field which is why I'm curious. DokuWiki doco suggests it's possible: http://www.dokuwiki.org/syntax#downloadable_code_blocks It doesn't seem to work. The <file> tag isn't supported at all. Old version on xymonton, or my bad?
