Hi Geoff, Thanks for your mail, I was too fast to send the mail to group. I got the link after-wards, but I need to appreciate the Xymon to the group. I am still doing some doing research on graphs with NCV. Below is the data which is printed in the xymon display. I am trying to plot the graph out of it. As I understand NCV takes numeric values with comma separated. So still trying to do it. Historical status log not available

Hi All, I am using xymon-4.2.3 in Red Hat Linux-5.5 Inside history if i want to check any particular date/time status then its giving following error: "Historical status log not available" Kindly let me know how come i resolv the problem. With Regards, Jayanta.

Devmon RRD graphs not being generated

I have a problem with Devmon and RRD graphs in Xymon 4.3 (upgraded from the 4.2 all-in-one-patch). (-note-: the graphs were not being generated in the hobbit 4.2 version either) I have a template with a "temp" test for an environment monitor. Devmon is probing the monitor, collecting the data and sending it to Xymon. no errors in devmon.log xymon can display the data and alert on the thresholds but no RRD files are generated in the data/rrd/"HOSTNAME" folder for the temp test (only conn) and I cannot find any erros in any logfiles. How can I see where the process is stopping or going wrong? I have copied the contents of devmon-graph.cfg into graphs.cfg in xymon and make sure that temp=devmon is in the TEST2RRD line and temp is mentioned in GRAPHS line.

Hi, I am new to xymon, till now my experience is superb with xymon. I am able to do whatever i want, i have customized the xymon starting from html pages till adding extra scripts on client. As a further customizing i am looking to draw graphs for my customized script. Can you please let me know where i can get a doc or link for customized graphs in xymon. Thanks.... Regards Gautam

I recently changed from the old BB software to Xymon and love it.. I am trying to do some customization and I can't find where the status logs are stored. Can someone point me in the right direction? Modifications in xymon 4.3.0 graph definitions

Hello, we are planning to upgrade to xymon 4.3.0. One of the preparations is to incorporate the modifications we've made in the (Hobbit) graph definitions into the graph definitions of xymon 4.3.0. The modifications described below are about the preference for a specific presentation of the information. We have changed the layout of a number of graphs to get a (more) uniform layout, which also matches the layout of MRTG graphs. The modifications are: - The format of the title becomes "<Host> , <Description> <TimeRange>". Thus in the TITLE directive starts with ", ", and (and this is hard to see in the diff output) it ends with two spaces. Only the first word in <Description> is written in uppercase. - Below the graph, there is one line for each parameter shown in the graph. The format of a line is the color and a description (generated with a LINE of AREA directive) followed by the minimum, maximum, average and current value. This order matches MRTG, which shows the maximum, the average and the current value. Each value has the format "<Min|Max|Avg|Cur>: <Value> <Unit>". - The format of the label along the Y-axis is "<Description> [<Unit>]". The description at the Y-axis describes the quantity shown, while the description field(s) below the graph contain the source. - FNPATTERN is modified to be more precise. It is anchored to both the beginning and the end of the name, and a "." is replaced by "\." if a dot is meant. Note that not all graph definitions are modified, in principle only the definitions we use are changed. It would be nice if the format of the dates in a graph could be adjusted as well, resulting in a uniform way to show a date throughout xymon (and devmon) generated pages. can't build i386 xymon rpms on x86_64 host

Has anyone else successfully built i386 RPMs of xymon & xymon-client using an x86_64 build server? changing new xymon menu to allow for horizontal drop downs

I'd like to add some horizontal drop down menus to the new xymon menu, similar to what is shown here: http://sperling.com/examples/menuh/ With the old menu, it was pretty simple, I just added some code like this: ['Analysis', null, null, ['Web Servers', null, null, ['Averages', null, null, [CPU Utilization, '/hobbit-cgi/...... Of course that doesn't work with the new menu, so I have to start over. Can anyone point me to some example code that does what I'm trying to do? I'm not a web programmer by any means, so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom

problem with xymond_client test

Since upgrading to 4.3.0-RC1 and following with 4.3.0, there is a xymond_client test that is always showing red: "- Program Crashed Fatal signal caught!" I'm not seeing anything helpful in the xymond-client logs or the xymond-server logs, any pointers on where I should look, or what the problem might be? how to run 2 xymon-servers on 1 host?

Hi, I would like to run 2 xymon-4.3.0 servers on 1 host (one for testing, one for production), each with its own user (xymon vs xymontst) and port (1984 vs. 1985). The problem is, that I get an error-message when starting the second server: "Could not get shm of size 262144: Permission denied" Obviously, the second server tries to access/allocate the same shm-segment as the first one. I'm guessing I have to change the source code somewhat, to allocate a different shm-=segment and/or semaphore, but I've got no clue as to how and where :( (I'm no good in programming C) Is there a way to run 2 servers on the same host as different users and if so, how? Can someone advice me on how to do this? regards, Paul
