XYMONNETWORK environment variable

I'll looking at this to reduce a bit of complexity in my network since I have a couple of proxies (that also act as backup). Is the XYMONNETWORK variable a single entry or could it be a list of logical networks for a proxy to serve? My setup has 4 distinct networks and 2 proxies, plus a bunch of devmon boxes that may want to be separated as well. Holidays.cfg question

So I updated the holidays.cfg file for static dates in 2012. After doing this I'm noticing two issues. First, xymon is reporting Thanksgiving for 2012 is on Nov 21st, when it should be Nov 22nd. Also, for Victoria Day in Canada it is reporting May 25th, and its actually on May 21st. Here are official and xymon definitions for each. Victoria Day is celebrated on last Monday before May 25th. So this year that would be May 21st. I tried to use the following definition In holiday.cfg. Victoria Day: type=-mon month=5 day=25 For Thanksgiving in US its just the 4th Thursday of November, hence: Thanksgiving:type=thu month=11 offset=4 I could see where the Victoria Day logic may not be working, perhaps xymon doesn't back off one Monday from May 25th like I think it should. But no clue as to why the Thanksgiving date is incorrect. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? Thanks,

Setting up a Xymon proxy server

Hi all, I am unable to find any documentation on the configuration of the hosts files when using xymonproxy, can you help? I have a number of clients client that have the Xymon proxy server configured as their Xymon server in the xymonclient.cfg file: XYMSRV="10.5.1.205" So they will send their status messages to the proxy server. The proxy server only has the [xymond], [xymondproxy], [xymonclient] and [combostatus] sections configured (do I need xymonnet and xymonnetagain?), this seems sensible to me. The proxy server also has the clients configured in its hosts.cfg file since it needs to know who to poll for. The question is, how do I then configure these clients in the main Xymon server? Do I have them in the hosts.cfg file there as well? If so how do I stop the main Xymon server from pinging them? Also, given that these clients are in a group, how do I get them displayed as a group in the Xymon web pages? Pinging a host turns purple every 2 mins

Hi, I have this host - " 457005021wfm01.pacs.rm.dk" that I ping - which goes a bit nuts - it turns purple every 2 mins - even tho the host is up... Running fine on Xymon 4.3.5 but not on pre-4.3.0 - anyone know a fix to this? Oracle Monitoring with Xymon

Hi Folks, Can anyone recommend or advise on a script that will integrate well with Xymon and could be used to monitor Oracle databases, required information is connections, table space, memory usage etc I have always used Big Brother and Hobbit in the past and have just upgraded to Xymon, but we only used the standard OS functions and some in house modules that monitored building security. upgrading

Greetings and happy new year - After *many* years running Hobbit v4.2, I am finally upgrading to the latest Xymon (and moving to new hardware). I understand there is an upgrade script during the build process, but I wonder if it might be more "clean" to simply start with a fresh install, copy the RRDs (and associated history logs) to their correct locations, and manually configure the various files. Thoughts? Am I worrying too much about the upgrade script? Should I just let it do its business? Empty graph place holders in 4.3.5

Hi all, I have xymon 4.3.5 and this used to work in 4.2.3. I have a message that I send to Xymon to display and graph the size of Oracle Tablespaces. The message contains a combination of HTML table formatted data (to display nicely) and hidden data (for RRD to use). Since upgrading to 4.3.5 I have been getting extra empty graph place holders. For example I have 6 tablespaces to graph but it shows 67. The first 6 are okay, but the rest are invalid. What I have found is that svcstatus.cgi (I think) is counting the number of items between <PRE> and </PRE> and using that to generate the number of graphs. I don't believe so based on the 'man hobbit-alerts.cfg/alerts.cfg' page. I was only answering your question in terms of the DURATION option. I don't see where you can define aliases for your email addresses. GROUP=groupname Rule matching an alert by the group name. Groupnames are assigned to a status via the GROUP setting in the analysis.cfg file. I don't believe that's what you want.
