internal server error after upgrade

Hi all I'm running FreeBSD 7.4 and used 'portupgrade' to upgrade xymon-server and client today, to 4.3.10 Now, I cannot see any graphs. showgraph.cgi and showgraph.sh never get built and installed. When I click on a graph link I get '500 Internal server error'. Very annoying is that none of the log files is particularly helpful about this! I regressed rrdtool to 1.2 from 1.4 but it made no difference. I did this because the showgraph build is optional on the DORRD keyword, and I thought maybe it wasn't being detected correctly, but there is no change, showgraph.cgi is still not built. make output includes the symbol RRDTOOL12 instead of 'RRDTOOL'. In my day of messing with this I managed to force showgraph.cgi to be built and I then manually installed it, and that is when 'internal server error' appeared instead of 'page not found'. Any ideas?

Perl client without xymon client. (OPEN)

It ~was Perl based and ~was compatible with Big Brother/port 1984 transmission/BB messaging format at the time. Xymon 4.3.10 - missing patches?

Hello, I am today working on upgrading our Xymon server from 4.3.7 to 4.3.10. I have several patches applied locally, but a few were reported to the list as possible bugs. In the process of upgrading I am obviously checking to see if the patches have been applied to the supplied 4.3.10 code. It seems that http://lists.xymon.com/archive/2012-April/034285.html has not been applied. Note that this issue occurs in three source files, not just xymonnet.c. There I had to escape the special characters since a netstat did not show "LISTEN" but "ABHÖREN". Unfortunately I do not remember what exactly I did but in my analysis.cfg there is now something like this: LOCAL=%[.:]135$ STATE=ABH<99>REN .... So it looks I replaced the 'Ö' with hex 99. I think it was something like unicode but I am not sure. Sorry that I could not be more helpful but I hope I pushed you a little bit in the right direction. During the deeper configuration phase I recognized that I have an issue with the special german characters. I found this when I wanted to include services from one of our MS Exchange servers: we have servers running a german MS Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1, together with a german MS Exchange 2010. One of the services is the “MSExchangeMailSubmission”, but this is “just” the service name. I think in Xymon (or better: in BBWin) one has to include the display name of the service one wants to monitor (?). The thing is, that the display name of this specific service is “Microsoft Exchange-Mailübergabe”. That’s it. The special german character “ü” screws up the setup in that way, that this particular service won’t get displayed in my setup. That’s not only a problem with our Exchange servers, but for my understanding it is a problem in the “playing together” between the Xymon and the BBWin setup, or better: it is a problem with the german MS Windows setup. To troubleshoot this thing I changed the locale of my Xymon server from “en_US.utf8” to “LANG=de_DE.UTF-8”, and after that to “LANG=de_DE.iso885915 at euro”, but without any success. I could monitor these specific services as processes, but this is not what I want. Do I need to change something else in my setup. i.e. in my webserver? Can I create a graph as an HTML image?

Hello, Using Xymon 4.3.7, does anyone know if it is possible to create a graph as an HTML image? That is, so that I can use '<IMG SRC...>' in a web page. I have had a look at 'showgraph.sh', but that seems to create a link to a page which then contains just the graph. I want the graph/image, not a link to it. Even using the '--save' option Our old Big Brother/MRTG system created PNG images of various things (which admittedly was a big drain on the system), and we could then create web pages which simply loaded whatever graphs/images we wanted. I'm now trying to do something similar but using Xymon/RRD. Anyone any ideas about this? (Current thoughts are perhaps to use PHP with rrdgraph to create the image. Hi, I probably have mis-understood but I get weird rendering using "::n" in xymonserver.cfg's GRAPHS directive. I have 6 RRD files, containing a single "temp" value (meaning temperature for that particular disk). I have a graph definition that goes: [snmp_disktemp] FNPATTERN ^snmp_disktemp.(.+).rrd TITLE Disk Temperature YAXIS Deg Celcius -l 0 -E DEF:temp at RRDIDX@=@RRDFN@:temp:AVERAGE COMMENT: COMMENT: Cur\: COMMENT:Min\: COMMENT:Avg\: COMMENT:Max\: \j LINE:temp at RRDIDX@#@COLOR@:disk at RRDIDX@ (@RRDPARAM@) GPRINT:temp at RRDIDX@:LAST:%4.0lf°C GPRINT:temp at RRDIDX@:MIN:%4.0lf°C GPRINT:temp at RRDIDX@:AVERAGE:%4.0lf°C GPRINT:temp at RRDIDX@:MAX:%4.0lf°C\l The whole thing monitors disks temperature from a NAS ; there are 6 disks inside. In "xymonserver.cfg": - if I set GRAPHS="(...),snmp_disktemp,(...)", I get 2 graphs with 3 disks in each graph; - if I set GRAPHS="(...),snmp_disktemp::1,(...)", I get 6 graphs with 1 disk in each graph; - if I set GRAPHS="(...),snmp_disktemp::2,(...)", I get 3 graphs with 2 disk in each graph; - if I set GRAPHS="(...),snmp_disktemp::3,(...)", I get 2 graphs with 3 disk in each graph; - if I set GRAPHS="(...),snmp_disktemp::4,(...)", I get 2 graphs with 3 disk in each graph; - if I set GRAPHS="(...),snmp_disktemp::5,(...)", I get 2 graphs with 3 disk in each graph; - if I set GRAPHS="(...),snmp_disktemp::6,(...)", I get 1 graphs with 6 disk in each graph; If I play with the "&count" parameter of the "showgraph.sh" Web script, the generated graph can have from 1 to 6 disks per graph according to the "count" value. This seem to be independent from the "::x" I set. In "xymon-4.3.9/lib/xymonrrd.c", I found "step = (graphdef->maxgraphs ? graphdef->maxgraphs : 5);" but didn't find where it could be (have been) modified in my cfg files ; to match that "3" default. I have the same kind of weirdness with another set of data (5 RRD files with in/out network values in it). "::1" renders 5 graphs * 1 dataset, "::2" renders 5g*1d, "::3" renders 2g*2d+1g*1d,"::4" renders 2g*2d+1g*1d, "::5" renders 1g*5d. I though "::x" meant "group by x with a default of maxgraphs" but I seem to be wrong. Or there is something not working properly. Can anyone enlighten me? TIA, Jo

Multiple RRD and STACK graph

Hi, I have a custom graph definition that takes data (iops) from several RRD files (one file per disk). Because those disks belong to a RAID array, I'd like to STACK their iops values on a single graph. To get an overview of iops over that RAID array. I've tried using a single "STACK:rps at RRDIDX@" directive but I got the following error: "STACK must follow LINE or AREA! command:" So I used "LINE:rps at RRDIDX@#5C7CDA STACK:rps at RRDIDX@#5C7CDA:Read/sec" but this doesn't really stacks every disks value on top of each others. I there a way to tell the graph definition to "stack on previous @RRDFN@" or some way to do the sum calculation on a set of @RRDFN@ at once (like CDEF:sum=rps at RRDIDX@,sum,+)? Or do I have to write a static graph definition using the X disk I want to sum up ? TIA, Jo

Possible Solution to "Segmentation fault" error and failure to load "Info pages"

Hi folks. Just wanted to share something I discovered today on our XYMON 4.3.7 configuration. Yesterday, I was working to clean up email alerts coming to teams from our server. I modified the alerts.cfg file Added a Macro definition = MAC_SRMDK = script/home/xymon/server/ext/html_mail.pl myemail at company.com FORMAT=TEXT After doing this, and some other changes, I went to the xymon pages and clicked the Info button but then started getting a msg like this: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, root at localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. After checking the /var/log/httpd/error_log file, I saw this: [Tue Aug 07 13:35:19 2012] [error] [client 1.1.x.x] Premature end of script headers: svcstatus.sh, referer: http://xymonserver.company.com/xymon/#servername When trying to run the xymond_alert —test hostname cpu This returned: "Segmentation fault" It turned out that among my changes to alerts.cfg, I left the space " " from between mac_srmdk=script and home/xymon…. So the missing space was causing all this grief and I didn't catch it till I took a long look at the file. Once I put the " " space between the =script /home/xymon… And the script file, it cleared all the errors up. It may be obvious to others, but I was surprised to see a lot of posts in my google searches about these messages, so I thought I would share just in case it happens to anyone else and they can trace it to a simple typo on the cfg file.
