Has anyone played around with a Nagios wrapper for xymon?

There are so many Nagios plug-ins out there, and we've grabbed a few for xymon and rewritten them, but I'm wondering how feasible it would be to just write a generic nagios wrapper script that called a nagios test and returned the results in xymon format. Seems like it should be straightforward, so I'm wondering if anyone out there has done this already? Betsy -never write what you can steal

How to DELETE nad RENAME a host in the Xymon

Hi Team, I am unable to deleted and rename a host in the Xymon. Please help to get this done with proper command and syntax. To Delete of an entire host in Xymon I did the following: Remove the host from the ~/server/etc/hosts.cfg file. Then ran the following command from path /home/xymon/server/bin xymon 127.0.0.1 "drop HOSTNAME" [Getting below error: bash: xymon: command not found] To rename a host in the Xymon display I did the following: Changed the ~/server/etc/hosts.cfg file so it has the new name. Xymon losing processes

So, I got an email saying this: &red %^syslog-ng$ (found 0, req. between 1 and 1) Yet, in the process list in the same email is this: PID PPID USER STARTED S PRI %CPU TIME %MEM RSZ VSZ CMD 11357 1 root May 20 S 24 23.3 1-05:57:01 0.2 10028 26356 syslog-ng It seems when the CPU percentage gets to a certain level, Xymon no longer sees the process as valid. Any ideas on fixing this? Thanks! Skadz

Problem: A greater than 24 hours status should display a diamond gif. For 2 of our 3 Hobbit servers, it works fine, but not on the 3rd. I have looked at recentgifs in the hobbitserver.cfg file, and do not see anything suspicious. In fact, there are quite a few more gif files in the /usr/local/hobbit/server/www/gifs directory for the one server that does not show any diamonds. I have not tested the gif files there, though-it could be it does not contain any gif that would display a diamond shape, but I do not know what those gifs would be called. At any rate, the file names seem to be the same as the other gifs on the other two servers-and I'm not sure how to display what picture they might show. Is it possible that this feature has somehow been turned off or set to null? I have spent quite a bit of time looking for a solution, but have so far not found what I was looking for. trends problem with hosts

My hosts.cfg file has below entry. 1.2.3.4 server1.server.example.com # http://server1.server.example.comCLASS:PRD_APP NAME:server1-prod I can see the graphs on each page with no problem and on trends page as well. But when I want to see the graphs with Today, week, month etc. I see "no such host", because on the url contains "server1-prod" instead of the full name of the server. I need to append the url with the full hostname and then it works fine. Can anyone tell whats wrong and how can I fix this? Thanks, Deepak

Actually I don't have this setting in the servers at all just on the clients. XYMONSERVERS bug

Hi, Xymon version 4.3.10 I have 2 identical xymon servers and specify this in the xymonclient.cfg. XYMSRV="0.0.0.0" # IP address of the Xymon server XYMSERVERS="192.168.10.1 192.168.10.2" # IP of multiple Xymon servers. XYMSRV must be "0.0.0.0". If the first mentioned server 192.168.10.1 goes down the second happily just continues and clients sends data to the second one. But, it will display the cpu on each client as yellow with "System clock is 47 seconds off (max 10)" Strange enough it is always 47 seconds on ALL clients. If I swap the ip's around XYMSERVERS="192.168.10.2 192.168.10.1" it goes green again with no time difference. I can reproduce this any time and it is always 47 seconds. Is this a bug? or expected behaviour. Cheers, - Roland

Hi, I am getting blank sms alerts for RECOVERED messages but for yellow or red the alerts are coming correctly. Could you tell me whats going wrong ? My xymon version is : - 4.3.10 HOST=$PRD SERVICE=* EXSERVICE=disk MAIL $ADMIN color=red,yellow REPEAT=20 RECOVERED NOTICE format=sms MAIL $MANAGER color=red,yellow DURATION>20 REPEAT=20 RECOVERED NOTICE format=sms MAIL mail at example.com color=red,yellow REPEAT=60 RECOVERED NOTICE

Problem with NOTICE rule in alerts.cfg

I noticed that the xymon_alerts docs show there is a NOTICE keyword which is described as: NOTICE Rule matches if the message is a "notify" message. This type of message is sent when a host or test is disabled or enabled. I wanted to be alerted via a custom SMS script of any test as soon as it is enabled or disabled. So in the alerts.cfg file I had initially set up a line that I thought would trigger whenever a test was enabled or disabled like so: HOST=* SCRIPT $xymon-sms-alert $waaphone TIME=$smsalerthours FORMAT=SMS NOTICE As I was testing enabling and disabling, it appeared that I had gotten the syntax correct and I was off to the next thing. However, when a normal test went yellow, I received two SMS alerts for it. My logs shows that the CFID environment variable was showing that my new alert listed above was triggering the SMS as well as the PAGE=%firewalls/* alert that was supposed to trigger it. I then tried NOTICE SCRIPT $xymon-sms-alert $waaphone TIME=$smsalerthours FORMAT=SMS as well as NOTICE=* SCRIPT $xymon-sms-alert $waaphone TIME=$smsalerthours FORMAT=SMS and finally HOST=* NOTICE SCRIPT $xymon-sms-alert $waaphone TIME=$smsalerthours FORMAT=SMS But it seems that ANY status change including normal green, yellow, red, purple triggers this alert as well as any other correctly matching alert.
