I need to monitor and make sure the user is always logged on, it's obviously windows. I am using the bbwin client still, it has the who.dll external builtin but you can't specify any parameters for it. I am mainly looking for idea, I can manage a batch file or a powershell to pass it to, search current session, find the user and "green if it's loggedin" or "purple". I need a little more help with linux however, so my question to you guys is: should I instead do this on the xymon server? grep the existing "who" report maybe and then spit out a new report name "useron" or something like that? If that's possible, should I look at analysis.cfg or should I play with xmongrep ? Thank you in advance. Gab

xymon and IPv6

Hi List, I'm currently wondering about the development of IPv6 Tests in xymon. The only hints about planned development I could find on the web are from 2012/2013. In the hosts.cfg I tried to define an IPv6 address with brackets [] and without, but xymon just ignores those lines. Does anyone know if xymon can maybe do some basic tests like ping to an IPv6 address or if there are any plans for IPv6 monitoring in the future ? Thanks a lot in advance ! Bye, Dirk

xymond not accepting connections

Thanks, Japheph! In fact, I did have a number of semaphores that remained in memory after all Xymon processes had exited… (BTW: same “ipcs -a” to view in Solaris). I don’t know if it was coincidence or causal, but w/in a couple of hours of removing, the system was locked up and I had to reboot. Now I can start up Xymon and exit without leaving semaphores littering the landscape. However, I have two new symptoms: - The xymonnet and xymonetagain daemons refuse to exit when I run the “xymon.sh stop” script. They just continue to run, growing in memory constantly (I ran “truss” against xymonnet and it just kept calling brk(…) – successfully – again and again, etc. - The xymongen daemon does not regenerate a new $HOME/xymon/server/www/ directory if I remove the old one. There is no new updates to the old directory that I can see either. I’m going to have Oracle take a look at the host to make sure there isn’t something wrong with the OS. Sorry, I saw this yesterday, but then got side tracked, and didn’t answer. First, NEVER remove the mailing list, there are so many guys that know so much more about xymon than I do. And that goes for just about everyone except maybe Henrik and JC. So this looks like a configuration issue in general, not a failed custom graph. Do you get graphs for anything? In trends of in specific tests? Does showgraph.sh exist in you xymon-cgi directory? You can find you xymon-cgi directory location in the xymon-apache.conf file, which should be in your httpd configuration directory. Is this a new install? What version of xymon are using, and what operating system? Xymon query and stale alert

Hello, I'm having problems with stale alert, there's some alerts that enter on a lopping, it just stopped when I restart the server process, after that, the server put a new log on alert.log, and shows me that this alerts was on a Stale. 2016-12-06 13:47:42 Got a shutdown message 2016-11-06 13:47:43 Terminated by signal 15 2016-11-06 13:48:01 Peer not up, flushing message queue 2016-11-06 13:48:01 Stale alert for serverclientx.com:conn dropped 2016-11-06 13:48:01 Stale alert for serverclienty:vmio dropped I'm using the 4.3.11.
