Critical Systems Editor: Search returns no results?

Hello, Is anyone out there running Xymon 4.3.28 and using Critical Systems Editor? Mine always returns no results when searching for hosts, but findhost.sh page works fine and does provide results. Curious if this is something due to my configuration or a known issue. This isn't a feature I normally use on my personal Xymon install so I have not noticed the problem until now. DOWNTIME specification sometimes not honored ?

At 18:01:57 a "disabled" mail and SMS alerts are sent : mail only should occur The SMS_DEFS'TIME specification is global and we want to override this for this particuliar host/test but this does not work. ? Integrating Xymon with HP Tools

Simple Ping Test from a node/server

Hey all, I want to monitor my backup internet connection (simple ping test outbound is fine). I'm going to throw a raspberry pi with dual interfaces on the network, one on the main network and one on the backup internet connection. What's the best way to implement a ping test from the PI and have it be part of the main server display? Solutions I've considered so far: - set up the PI as a xymon server and figure out how to get the test results to go back to the main server. - setup the PI as a xymon client and write some sort of ping test that does the work - something else I missed? Thanks!

alerts stop sending email

Hello Xymon suddenly stop sending email alerts, the alerts generate and also notification logs show email sent but nothing come out from xymon, I have test send-mail from the server email is working able to get test email, I have restarted multiple tines but nothing fix the problem. Graphing a disk-like check

You're on the right track with the graphs.cfg and xymonserver.cfg Your data has to be transmitted from the client as NCV, though. Each data point has to be sent on a line by itself in "name-colon-value" format. Your message should look something like this: data HOSTNAME.TESTNAME blocks_used:3333333 blocks_available:4444444 blocks_size:7777777 See the manpage for the xymon command to send a "data" message": https://www.xymon.com/help/howtograph.html Go back and read the "Custom Graph" help page, too... https://www.xymon.com/help/howtograph.html Read all the way to the bottom and pay attention to how to send "trends" data directly into a specific RRD file. That might be particularly helpful; I might even change a few of my custom data scripts based on that. As an aside note... if it were me doing this-- trying to graph additional disk data-- I would modify the OS specific client script (e.g. /home/xymon/client/bin/xymonclient-linux.sh) to include the NFS file system you interested in graphing. I know. This probably REALLY violates standard Xymon practices. It certainly does add potential problems and maintenance headaches down the road when you upgrade, but it is certainly the shortest path to tracking your disk. I've made a number of modifications to my OS specific scripts in my environment over the years. When I upgrade, I diff the originals. If they're the same, I simply drop in my custom script. If not, I have all the changes documented at the top of my custom script so I can find them easier. Good luck!

Limiting repeated messages (Root, Paul T)

to limit to once a day I create my mail file in my /tmp/mailed directory cron clear that directory daily --- if file there abort if not make file and send. I know there are 1000 ways but I found this an effective method.

Check of scheduled suspended services on Windows hosts

Hi In order to assure a clean backup of an application, the editor recommends that all relevant services should be stopped during the backup window (this wouldn't be a problem as backup is scheduled at night when no one needs the application). Is there a way to "schedule" the monitoring of some services on a host ? By the way, we still user bbwin on our Windows-hosts, it that matters. Thanks and regards Yann Lehmann

Limiting repeated messages

So we have custom tests that developers/maintainers of the application want alerts for just once a day. But we use a script to mail to them pretty printed html, so I can't use REPEAT=1d on the SCRIPT line, and putting REPEAT on the host line doesn't work. Can I put the REPEAT on its own line?
