xymon client bindaddress

Hi, I think I now have this under control. So you can ignore the previous email. No more ghosts!! Is there a way to have the xymon client bind to a specific IP or interface? xymon is behind a firewall and lately firewall is dying a lot and at restore we are getting email storm about devices that are on other sites. firewall team will have a replacement "soon". In the meantime I guess I should add a depend (first hop) for all 2000+ devices in hosts.cfg file. Is there another option with less editing? No. My Big Brother, then Hobbit, and now Xymon servers have always been on Linux. Good day - Is there anyone on the list running a version newer than 4.3.8 on an HP-UX 11.31 platform? I'm seeing some odd behavior with forking, when starting up the channel handlers, and would like to compare notes. Thanks! -Lynn

libpcre issues with Apache / xymon

Deepak Google tells me that this can happen when a 32-bit library is being linked to by a 64-bit library. Or when a binary requires a shared library (.o) but there's only an archive library (.a). If you run "svcstatus.cgi" or "svcstatus.sh" manually, does it give the same error? If so, run it via truss to see what library file it's trying to load when it stops, and look for an alternative. And/or run "ldd svcstatus.cgi". The LD_LIBRARY_PATH trick might work, but check that libpcre.* exists in /usr/local/lib. Also see if there's /usr/local/lib64 or /usr/local/lib32. Windows powershell client

Hi, I'm adding a new client into our server. I added some 'files' to the client-local.cfg on the server. As soon as I did that, the xymonclient.log column went purple. I tried adding log:C:\xymonclinet.log:10240 into the client-local.cfg but that did not resolve the purple status. There's no entry in the analysis.cfg for log. The msgs column reports 'No entries in xymonclient.log ' What do I need to do to get the xymonclient.log column to report correctly and turn green again? alert script environment variable for URL of test?

Seems to me it'd be nice if an alert script got an environment variable with the URL of the test that failed or recovered. Scenario: recipient(s) has/have smartphone, so they can click on a URL in a text message. Even if their access is sporadic, the text of the URL contains the host and service affected, so they have much of what they'd need right there; the message is short, while still leading to the full web presentation. I don't see any way to do that with the existing setup, save by assuming the URL has a site-specific format and plugging in the host and test names appropriately.

Windows Powershell client

Hi We have a Linux server for the xymon server (4.3.18) but we run the bb-central addon so my client-local.cfg on the server is pretty bare. All of our xymon clients are Linux servers until now. I've recently installed the xymon Windows powershell client. Most of it is working except the columns files, ports, procs, and svcs. They are reporting a 'clear' status because I haven't defined anything to check. Where and how do I configure these columns? From my research it seems I should configure client-local.cfg on the Linux server but I'm unsure how to configure it for access to Windows. I see there is a [win32] section but it is blank. The Windows Powershell client is running on a Windows 2012 server. Would anyone be willing to share how they've configured these columns or some basic examples? For example if I want to monitor files matching C:\*.log, ports 22,8080 procs prowin32 C:\Progressx86\OpenEdge\bin\prowin32.exe svcs sshd, Spooler In addition where do I configure the Red, Yellow, Green for these columns ?
