Disk Space Requirements

Good morning! I am attempting to spin up my first Xymon server and would like advice on system requirements, primarily disk space required but CPU count and RAM would also be greatly be appreciated. Looking at initially monitoring 20 hosts and would like some room to grow. Most likely will be running Xymon on FreeBSD. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! PSclient ext speedtest

Hi again. I've created a simple speedtest PS1 script for use as a PSclient ext test for one of our clients. The results are inaccurate though because apparently when the script runs headless it's super fast, but running it manually via a PS Console runs slower and a gives more accurate results. This isn't really a Xymon question, but since there's a lot of smart folks who read this I figured I'd ask. Anyone have an accurate PS speedtest that I can run in my script? Xymon not showing up hosts in the html web page

Hello, I have been working on a situation with my xymon server for over a week, I cant find the solution. For some reason I am unable to see the hosts I add in my hosts.cfg file on the main webpage of xymon. I have 2 location on my server where hosts files are. 1- /usr/lib/xymon/server/etc/hosts.cfg 2- /etc/xymon/hosts.cfg Whaterver i do in those 2 hosts files, nothing happen. I added a screenshot to this email so you can see what my home page looks like. If you have any suggestion regarding this situation, thanks in advance.

PSclient sending from intranet

Anyone have an idea about how to collect client server stats using the Powershell client on machines that are on an intranet that blocks port 1984, and send it out to our external xymon server located in a different part of the country? File monitoring

Hi everyone, I'm trying to monitor for the existence of some files. I have the entries in client-local.config, and when the files exist they are being reported back properly. I can see the data about each file when I click on it in the files area for the server. The problem comes when the files don't exist. The files entry for the server remains green, but when I click on the file that I'm monitoring it says ERROR: No such file or directory. So Xymon client is sending back that it doesn't exist, but yet Xymon is still green. Hi, My colleagues found this addon awesome but have a small feature request. Would it be possible to integrate the current date/time (like on all Xymon pages) on the same line as the title ? Hi, be aware that any update to hobbit-plugins which modifies the apt check will probably overwrite your changes again. (although it doesn't get updated very often) After seeing this thread I've actually changed the xymongen options to not show apt checks on the non-green page and to not propagate the status, instead of changing the script. I updated the script to also test for security and cve updates Added two tests in the script, 'yum list-security', and 'yum updateinfo list cves' which will send alerts for me to action. Hi, we're just using the yum/apt check as informational status since we are already patching on a regular schedule. Since we did not want the check to clutter the non-green page, we've just change all occurrences of yellow/red in the perl script to green. This way the status will always be green, but you can still check available updates by clicking on it. Problem is doesn't matter how often you update the server, it wont be long before the yum test changes state. We look at the non-green view to display current issues(on a large led screen), the non-green view will show all the servers that has a yellow or red alert associated with them, thus all the Linux servers will show. The yum test is a script running on each server, configured clientlaunch.cfg for each server to run the script every n minites. My question is if it is possible to configure xymon to display all the yum related info for all servers on a page and exclude the yum tests from the different pages where the servers are configured? Windows tests go purple if server is listed twice.

A while back I create a special page with only a subset of the regular tests listed. Just the result for conn mostly. This was no problem until I had to add Windows servers to it. I can add a Linux box under "group-only conn Linux" and that does not affect the tests displayed on the other pages. However if I add a Windows server under "group-only conn Windows" tests like dns and ftp do not update and eventually go purple. Any results received from the Windows client are unaffected. It doesn't seem to matter if the Windows server has a client on it or not. XYMon version: 4.3.28 Server OS: CentOS 7 Windows client: BBWin 0.13 (not all Windows servers have the client) -- Stephen
