Hello Ian, You can perform this in a nice way using clientlaunch.cfg file. You have an "INTERVAL" variable that is intended for this purpose. i have a hobbt/xymon server with stabdard default 30 minute STATUSLIFETIME However I have a one specific alert/test that actually only needs to run once a day eg 0001. So that will of course go purple after 30 minutes cos the next run wont be for another 23.5 hours yet. Ive gleaned through googling that it seems possible to include a status+ parameter on the actual script "reporting" line in the script. eg if the current command is $XYMON $XYMSRV "status $MACHINE.$TEST $COL2 `date` `cat /tmp/OUTPUT`" there is a way to add onto that line that only foir this alert the "purple threshold time" shoud be eg 25 hours. is that simply then $XYMON $XYMSRV "status+25h $MACHINE.$TEST $COL2 `date` `cat /tmp/OUTPUT`" cheers ian

Can I have noconn but have a server side script that probes some other way?

...and preferably, reports its result in such a way as to end up in the conn column? If so, would I call the column in the script "conn", or something else? Specifically, something like an Amazon Echo Dot, that's not pingable (but does respond to e.g. arping). Right now, they're not on my miscellaneous devices page because they block pretty much all ports and don't respond to pings. Still, it does appear possible to detect if they're up, and if only for completeness, I'd like to...

Hi guys, I upgraded some SUSE 12 SP3 linux servers to SUSE 15 SP1. As of Suse 15 netstat and some more network tools are deprecated, so for example netstat is not working anymore; this counts for more Linux distros. Is someone working on this issue? New Xymon Server email

I just built a new Ubuntu 19.10 server and installed Xymon server on it using the premade apt package.? I've got working hosts.cfg, analysis.cfg, and client-local.cfg.? The webpage works fine and client data flows in and displays accurately. I've also configured alerts.cfg to email me for everything, but I'm not receiving any emails in my mailbox.? In the past when I've built a xymon server box I installed Sendmail that took care of sending the emails out.? But this is 2020 and I'm assuming something else is built into the Xymon Server code that does the emailing.? What am I missing here?? Do I still need to install a separate mailer? -- Kris Springer

Hopefully simple question. When are changes to the analysis.cfg picked up? Basically, how long after I update the file before subsequent tests to be evaluated with the changes? Thanks.
