[hobbit] Hobbit client, exempt disks?

Is there a show only pattern? Alternate Pagesets

Hi. I'm trying to setup a Hobbit configuration so that I can monitor groups of servers for my clients and then give them access to a page with just their own servers on them. I've done this in the past and just password protected the specific directory (page) that I didn't want anyone else to go to but now I want the client who logs in to ONLY see their own data... as though it was their own instance of Hobbit. If I just use subpages it works okay except that the user can go ti "Views" --> "Main View" an see every one else's information. So that won't work for privacy reasons. So I searched far and wide and found the topic of "Alternate Pagesets". I set that up and it looked fine at first but didn't seem much different than just subpages because they could still go to "Views" ---> "Main View" and see everyone's information again. So that didn't do the trick. My ultimate goal is to look like each client has their own hobbit setup where the client can do Availability reports and look at the Non-Green Views. So my questions are: 1. Am I setting up Alternate Pagesets wrong? Can Alternate Pagesets do what I want? 2. If not, then how can I achieve what I want without creating different instances of Hobbit. Hobbitping not working

I just installed hobbit server 4.2-beta. This is my first hobbit setup. Hobbitping does not seem to be working. All "conn" are red, saying nodes are not OK, not responding to ping. The bbtest reports... Error output: Execution of '/export/home/hobbit/server/bin/hobbitping -Ae' failed - program not suid root? Hobbitping is owned by root:hobbit Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks, James

Hi! I've sent an email to the BBWin list but am wondering if troubleshooting this client is done on this list instead. (I've read Jason Chambers quick plea for help from a few hours ago.) Just want to make sure I'm addressing the right list for the right job ;-) P.S. Hobbit ROCKS! This weekend I did an install of the latest BB, was about to install BBGen then discover the Hobbit project. An immediate switchover to Hobbit later and I'm a happy camper! -Roger Alterskjær

Viewing bb2.rss with Firefox livebook mark

Using Firefox 1.0.7 to view bb2.rss seems to have stopped working when I upgraded to 4.2. I am running a snapshot from 04-25-06. I tried Firefox 1.5 and that didn't work either. AKregator is able to read in the alerts OK for bb2.rss. I just added --rss to my 4.1.2 production server and it works. I don't see anything obviously wrong with the format of the .rss files. Can anyone confirm this behavior with Firefox and 4.2? hobbitlaunch.cfg: CMD bbgen $BBGENOPTS --report --rss --max-eventtime=1440 I tried --rssversion={0.91|0.92|1.0|2.0} but none of the versions seems to work. Hey guys, Just been playing around with some LDAP tests recently to diagnose some issues on a customers LDAP we're hosting and occasionally it decides it doesn't want to respond to LDAP..or cant find the uid I'm searching for. I noticed theres a ldapyellowfail tag which I tried putting in so I got email but not paged about it but it doesn't seem to work for me I still get red messages. I'd prefer to be able to add this instead of doing a separate alert rule so any suggestions would be good.I know the ldaplogin works fine as I'm using this on another host that doesnt allow anonymous binds I've got this in my hosts file 192.168.1.202 dr202.cs.int # NK:conn ldap://dr202.cs.int:389/o=cls?uid=nadmin1 ldapyellowfail Cheers Allan

Running hobbit clients from a shared directory

Let's say I have 300 servers, and the hobbit home directory is common among them all (NFS or SAN mount). Will this work? It appears that it might (as most of the dynamic files have the hostname as part of their filename), as long as server-side configuration was used. -Charles
