Hi, the new hobbit client doesn't recognize the different vmstat versions that exist under RedHat. Using the bbclient, I changed the BBOSTYPE in vmstat-bf.sh to debian3 or redhat or whatever. What can I do in the new hobbit client? Dirk

Alert Escalation

I'm trying to set up an alert so that it goes to a specific user after 10 minutes. If not acknowledged in 10 minutes, I want it to go to a second user. If he/she doesn't acknowledge it in another 10 minutes, I want to alert the first user again, and repeat in this fashion until it's acknowledged (or fixed). So, "user 1" would get the alert after 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 50 minutes, etc. and "user 2" after 20 minutes, 40 minutes, 60 minutes, etc. For testing, I have the alert defined like: HOST=testhost.syr.edu RECOVERED MAIL user1 at syr.edu FORMAT=TEXT DURATION>10 REPEAT=20 MAIL user2 at syr.edu FORMAT=SMS DURATION>20 REPEAT=20 What happens is the first alert (FORMAT=TEXT) goes out at 10 minutes, nothing at 20 minutes, both at 30 miuntes, nothing at 40 minutes, both at 50 minutes, and so on. Make fails

Any suggestions? can't get my apache trends to work

i think i set up everything properly : -added an "apache=http://bigbrother/server-status?auto" for my bigbrother server, (le server-status page works) -removed my existing .rrd file for bigbrother,e -hobbit created the file but, it doesn' seem to feed it; in my rrd-data.log, i'm getting : 2005-07-28 16:17:00 RRD error updating /data1/hobbit/data/rrd/bigbrother/apache.rrd from 127.0.0.1: expected 3 data source readings (got 6) from 1122560220:277053:383710:35:10:.186747:4.75758:... did i miss something ? -- Olivier Beau

It just annoys everyone. Some of them get caught by the moderation system, but some do slip through. Snapshot Compile errors

Hi, I'm starting to try to use the bb-hostedit tool because I need that other people without unix knowledge can manipulate the bb-hosts file to edit it and configure new client/test. I've a problem with pageset. bb-hostedit don't recognize them so i get errors when he load the file. For example i get a "Syntax error: inetpage Web Web Servers" It's possible in a future version to have pagesets work with bb-hostedit (if not to edit them at least to leave them where they are)? Hi, I have for each host-macro and service-macro 3 lines with different times of alerting. This works fine for alerts, but I get always 3 recovered messages. I added RECOVERED after each line. Does RECOVERED doesn't recordnize the time-parameter? Thx Thomas
