basic protocol test goes clear not red

in the protocol.cfg file I have [autosysa] port 7520 [autosysb] port 7500 in hosts.cfg 10.65.4.76 USPHL0SQLF6 #DESCR:autosys-prod-jobs autosysa autosysb now I find this in my history Wed Mar 8 05:23:32 2017 autosysa ok : Ping failed, or dialup host/service Service autosysa on USPHL0SQLF6 is OK Dialup host/service, or test depends on another failed test Host appears to be down Seconds: 0.000000000 I never said this was a dialup host or service - I expect it to go red when it fails .. not go clear. David Is xymond_alert running on the same server as xymond? If so, perhaps try setting XYMSRV or XYMSERVERS to 127.0.0.1 and see if that helps. I'm wondering if the problem has something to do with your VM. Does the xymond.log flap messages mention what test was flapping? Anybody have any info on this error in ~xymon/server/logs/alert.log? Whoops ! Xymon Alerts conf file

Hi: I'm Robert Valentin and we installed the Xymon server on a Linux machine and a client on a mainframe running VSE and the browser on the Linux server is reporting OK the alerts (yellow and red) for both hosts defined on the hosts.cfg. The mainframe system programmer bring down a CICS and create a 90% disk utilization and is reported fine on the webpage. I configure the sendmail service to received alerts thru emails defined on the alerts.cfg but I'm only receiving emails from the Xymon Server not for the client alerts from VSETEST. Here's the alerts.cfg parameters set. [cid:image001.png at 01D29CB8.B41E0EF0] I execute the xymoncmd xymond_alert -test VSETEST disk and it founds a red alert on disk validate the rule to use on the alerts.cfg file but no email is received. Does hostnames on the hosts.cfg need a the domain ID? Instead of VSETEST do I need to change the line to VSETEST.firstbank.local? Also try leaving only the HOST=VSETEST and inactivate the HOST=FBA06120.firstbank.local and no results. I will appreciate any help on this matter. Issues with Client side information

Hi All, Please find the below screenshot. I have configured the Xymon tool in a server and installed xymon client in another server . I can able to pull the basic information like http,connections,info,trends but not the client side information like cpu , process disk space uptime etc. Please let me know what has to be done to get the issue resolved. stale filehandles

Hey, We're running into an issue with testing file ages that come back as "4294967293" (which is '-1' or "2^32 -1")...for example: File was modified 4294967293 seconds ago - should be <7200 I'm fairly certain I know why. On systems where you are checking for a large number of files and those files are being moved/deleted actively, it is possible for xymon to get the list of files and those files disappear before it can iterate over the list to stat the files to get the relevant info. This is similar to when you use rsync and it complains that files "vanished" before they could be transferred. I think this may be exasperated by using a command to find files. I haven't looked in the code (nor would I know how to fix it if I did) but I would say that the 'stat' for the file should dump a "file vanished" message rather than give a "bogus" time stamp. Or the conditional could allow compound or 'ignore if' functions. I doubt I'm the only one running into this. It's causing many false alerts. ? Putting it out there for awareness (and the hopes that someone has already sent JC a patch that just hasn't made it into Xymon yet). =G=

ext script does not run on client restart

Hi I have an ext script to check for the status of available patches on my hosts. Once I have updated the patches, I restart the xymon-client so that the test will go green again. Occasionally the ext script will not run on restart. Is there a way I can debug what the xymon client is choosing to run? How does xymon track the interval after a restart? My clientlaunch fragment looks like: [patches] ENVFILE $XYMONCLIENTHOME/etc/xymonclient.cfg CMD $XYMONCLIENTHOME/ext/hobbit-patch.sh LOGFILE $XYMONCLIENTHOME/logs/hobbit-patch.sh INTERVAL 6h Client version: ii xymon-client 4.3.17-6+deb8u1 amd64 client for the Xymon network monitor Thanks for any advice!
