custom LARRD graphs - once again

Hi, we also have some custom larrd graphs in our bb-server (with bbgen 2.16). Now I want to use them with hobbit without doing some programming in C. Is there a way to enable data-files be written to disk? Thanks in advance Stefan

RSS Feeds

All, I just figured I would pass along some info in case anyone is looking to integrate RSS feeds into local Intranets or other sources. I added the following line to the Header section of bb_header to create the live bookmarks option in Mozilla. <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS" href="$BBWEBHOST/hobbit/bb2.rss"> I also found this great PHP script to convert the RSS feed into HTML so that we could easily port it into our Intranet. Pretty handy for those that don't want to write Javascript to do it. http://www.feedforall.com/free-php-script.htm It is called using pretty basic options in the URL. Just point to the .php file with XMLFILE="<URL to bb2.rss> You can add the TEMPLATE option to customize the look of the output. It just looks into a standard HTML file with a few identified variables for customization. Pretty straightforward. Sorry if this is a duplicate, just thought that I would share. Robert

no bb client data recieved by hobbit.

I successful install hobbit and am runing the network test for my clients but When I restarted the bb client my first host no data was recieved. That is thing like disk and procs . It IS connecting because when I stop hobbit I see error messsages on the client! Now ALL my client are running bb 19c. Could that be the problem.? badconn problem

Hi again Henrik; are you tired of hearing from me yet? Something that I noticed a few days ago but forgot to bring up until now: All of the hosts in our bb-hosts file are defined in a similar fashion to this: 1.1.1.1 hostname # badconn:1:1:2 However, any host that we monitor that fails a single ping test immediately goes red. I have seen it both ways, and cannot figure out why. For example, Yesterday, I restarted hobbit, and there was nothing there. Then about 10 minutes later, there was an empty table of "No alerts defined". About 15 minutes after that, our defined alerts started showing up. Weird. Hobbit doesn't add any HTML to the message, but the status report that is copied into the message might contain HTML. Especially if it's an http content-check status, but others do as well (the "vmio" reports, for instance). Mutiple tests for the same webpage but on diferent hosts (cluster) with bbgen

Hi, We have a cluster (3 machines) working in a cluster environment. I can access the http server of every machine directly, but normally al requests come trougth a VIP (load balancer). For information, the tree machines use named virtual hosting of sites. What I need to do is, have the same site (let say www.somesite.com) tested on the tree distinct machines. My install is Redhat based with BB 1.9e + bbgen version 2.15 Reading the bb-hosts man page I have added the following to bb-hosts, but the result is not as expected. 10.10.0.200 member1-www2.somesite.com # NAME:"10.10.0.200" http://www2.somesite.com=10.10.0.200/test.htm 10.10.0.201 member2-www2.somesite.com # NAME:"10.10.0.201" http://www2.somesite.com=10.10.0.201/test.htm 10.10.0.202 member3-www2.somesite.com # NAME:"10.10.0.202" http://www2.somesite.com=10.10.0.202/test.htm The result (seen on tcpdump'ing the http connections) is that BB+bbgen test 3 times the first of these tree hosts (10.10.0.200) Can someone point me out what I'm doing wrong? I would that the web test where done against every one of these tree servers, always using the "Host" tag on the HTTP request as "www2.somesite.com" Thanks in advance for any help. Regards Werner

Hi, i'm trying to set a generic host alert with : HOST=* SCRIPT /usr2/hobbit/server/alert.sh $BBALPHAMSG FORMAT=sms COLOR=red SERVICE=* REPEAT=10m RECOVERED (all on same line) But i get only red alert and not recovered.... You can use htmlmail.pl from deadcat to clean up your e-mail. It will produce a full html page from the status report and then send that. In the info column, we are not seeing contact info anymore (at least, not since one of the RC's, I think RC4). Mail is however still outgoing on events. Is this related? And is there a way to "clean up" the appearance of the messages? The come into our mailboxes with what looks like html code that outlook doesn't know what to do with. I saw a note to change to PLAIN in the hobbit-alerts.cfg file, but wouldn't that drop the link out of the e-mail also? (Guess I'd like to have my cake and eat it too :) ). GIF does not show up

Hi I am using Hobbit 4.0.1 and I defined HOBBITLOGO as HOBBITLOGO="<IMG SRC=\"/hobbit/gifs/qwest_logo.gif\" width=\"185\" height=\"77\" alt=\"Qwest Spirit of Service™\">" in my hobbitserver.cfg file It shows up fine in every page, eg. bb.html, except for maint.pl file The source file on a bb.html, it shows like this <IMG SRC="/hobbit/gifs/qwest_logo.gif" width="185" height="77" alt="Qwest Spirit of Service™"> BUT, on maint.pl the same like looks like this: <IMG SRC=/hobbit/gifs/qwest_logo.gif width=\185\ height=\77\ alt=Qwest Spirit of Service&#8482\> As you can see the quotes are missing and just showing the escape character (\) on the broken link I am using the maint.pl which line 432 and 433 looks like this 432: #open (HOBBITDLIST, "bb ".$BBENV{'BBDISP'}." \"hobbitdboard ".$filter."\" |"); 433: open (HOBBITDLIST, "bb ".$BBENV{'BBDISP'}." hobbitdboard |"); Any suggestion how to fix it?
