Process needs restart monitor

My Google-fu of the maillist archive is weak and I didn't see anything relevant on Xymonton. I have a job pool that is restarted weekly via cron if no jobs are running. I would like to be alerted if its process start time is more than 2 weeks ago. Is there a native way to alert that a process hasn't has been running too long? Sort of like the analysis.cfg "UP" check but for a process. Thanks.

BigBrother Client 460 not working with Xymon version 4.3.27

Hi, We have BigBrother server, but are looking to use Xymon. We have everything setup and ready to go, but our 100+ BigBrother servers our using the BigBrother Client 460. Did a External IP swap that would make Xymon take over BigBrothers IP. This worked ok, but none of the BigBrother Client servers came up on the other end. I am not sure if a security thing is setup, but when I use the BBWinCMD.exe command to send data to the Xymon it works like it should, but not from the BigBrother Clients that we have on the servers. I am not looking to save the BigBrother data, but the only thing I took over to Xymon was some of the BB-Hosts.cfg. I have used telnet on the server to verify port 1984 is open. That is OK. Sent fake message using the BBWinCMD. That is OK Restarted the Xymon Server. That is Ok BigBrother Clients 460 coming to Xymon. Is broken. Xymon configured with default options and it is version 4.3.27. Maybe someone has a fix for this? Kind regards, Zach

Server Script

So I'm trying to implement a server script, and I'm getting some errors with the beginning of my code, specifically the section that ties to Xymon. Separating alternate pageset

Hello, we are running Xymon 4.3.11 on RHEL 6.2 with apache 2.2.15. I followed the Xymon website to install our Xymon system. We have configured 922 monitored devices. Now we are in the situation that we need to present some special devices to an external company. I did this by setting up an alternate pageset, following the Tips and Tricks section from the Xymon website. Everything is working as expected, but the external company is able to „break out“ of this special pageset. I disabled the menu bar on the start page of this alternate pageset using an alternate template header file. But as soon as they click on any green / yellow / red button from any test, they end up in the normal Xymon page containing the results of this test AND the menu bar. Is there any way to „jail“ this alternate pageset, or to configure it without presenting the menu bar, or to set up some rewrite rules, so that the external company cannot use the menu bar or break out of this special page set? xymongen doesn’t seem to make this happen.... Or is there another possibility that i haven’t seen until now? For example, by sending this alternate pageset to another system or something else.... question on precedence

Hey, Just curious about how "ignore" and "trigger" work together in the clientlocal.cfg file. Let's say I have a log message like 2016-06-26 03:33:41 (myhost): [RED ALERT] File is missing? and rules in clientlocal such that log:/var/log/some.log:10240 ignore "File is missing" trigger "RED ALERT" Which takes precedence? Is it just the order the rules are listed? thanks =G=

Report BBWIN client versions

Sever script

Hi all, I'm slightly confused as to where I store the configuration for a server script. From what I can find, I should store the script in ~/xymon/server/ext/myscript, and I should store the configuration in ~/xymon/server/etc/xymonlaunch.cfg. However, the /xymonlaunch.cfg does not exist in this location. Anyone happen to where I configure my test? Thanks! Joshua

Support for TLS v1.1 and 1.2?

Mark Felder, Mentioned last year around April 17th, 2015 where Xymon support for TLS v1.1 and v1.2 may be lacking. Perhaps the issue is more my naiveté but does anyone know how I can get the sslcert and http tests to work correctly with Apache and Xymon. Creating a custom nongreeen.html

Hi, A few months ago I managed to get xymongen to create a custom non-green.html that only has red status , this file red.html is created every minute along with non-green.html , critical.html & xymon.html I cannot remember where I added the extra config to run this extra non-green.sh filtering out only the red status and has no eventlog or acklog. I seem to recall adding an extra stanza to a file to create this custom file but I cannot remember where the file is. Questions about supplemental client messages

Hi y'all I have some questions about the use of supplemental client messages (by specifying a collector ID in the "client" message). The man page has very little to say on the matter. I want to have a client-side script that collects the latest BIND DNS statistics and feeds them to the Xymon server via a supplemental client message. Should I be including the $CONFIGCLASS in the report, like other client messages? Xymon puts the class onto a newline when I do this. The man page says the class is optional for a client message, but if I wanted to change the class, I don't think I would be able to. Or maybe it only makes sense to specify the class for the main client message, and not supplemental ones. 2. When I write the server-side processor, I'll need to collect the output by specifying the client section name of [named_stats]. But there's also a "[collector:named_stats] section heading that gets created automatically. Should I be adding the "[named_stats]" section at all, or instead making use of the [collector:named_stats] that gets created regardless? It probably doesn't matter if I have both, but I don't want to break anything, including some future intended use of these extra client messages. 3. The content of the client data section I'm sending happens to have square bracketed terms like "[Common]" and "[View: default]". This makes it impossible for me to fetch the whole [named-stats] section. My instinct is to escape these somehow, but I don't know of any standard "Xymon" way of doing this beyond a simple backslash.
