Look at what each tool does, and reimplement it in a more modern way. Hello I agree on using a different language, xymon is basicly just string handling and C is dangerous with that. I am happy you thinked about python, because my try to redo xymon was in python and I think no other language could have permitted to reimplement so many part so fast and easily. But for me, the xymon protocol should be kept, it is easy parsable and do not need extra dependencies to be parsable. At least for the client protocol, having a client so easy to implement is a great advantage. MQ BO queue monitoring.

Hi all, We currently monitor MQ backout with the following line to monitor all backout queues. MQ_QUEUE "%([A-Z.]*BO)$" depth-warning=1 However, recently we have had a request to remove a specific queue from these alerts and I'm not sure the best way. I've put a specific rule in for the queue in question and it's above the generic rule in the analysis.cfg file as previous experience has shown me that Xymon seems to only pick up the first rule that matches. Can anyone confirm if this is correct or am I going to have to dig into the regular expression world to try and exclude this specific queue? Regards, Neil. Custom Second Network (conn) Test, Round Two...

Experts, Revisiting a question I asked back in 2017, and is still nagging me today. We monitor (among many other things) the network connections to our remote offices with Xymon. Each site has a "primary" network/firewall interface that is monitored using the "conn" test. I created a custom script to monitor a "secondary" interface (labeled "voip") at each site. From a purely monitoring and alerting standpoint this combination of tests operates flawlessly. What I have never been able to get to work is the RRD/graphing on the secondary interface. To TEST2RRD in xymonserver.cfg I added ",voip=tcp" to the end of the stanza. To GRAPHS in xymonserver.cfg I added ",voip" to the end of the stanza. To graphs.cfg I added the [voip] service definition, specifying FNPATTERN ^tcp.voip.(.+).rrd The script builds results for each interface, set appropriate variable values, and sends data with: $XYMON $XYMSRV "status $SRVR.$COLUMN $STAT `date` \n${MESG} \n&${STAT} ${DATA} \n" What is NOT happening is the .rrd file is not being created. Remove xymon client

We had installed xymon client (xymonClient services) for source on several of our corporate sites on Redhat systems. One of those systems was used as a template for systems that are scattered around branch offices. Unfortunately the xymon client was not removed before several systems were deployed. Are there any tips on how to completely remove the xymon client on these systems. The xymonClient services is running and there is a local linux account. Thanks

Availability reports

Issue with links in critical.cfg

Hi all, I've recently built a new server using Terabithia RPM's and it's version 4.3.30. Our old server is 4.3.4 On these servers, when adding critical.cfg entries we add a http link in the Instruction" field so the result looks like this [cid:image001.png at 01D94CE5.265D49D0] On the 4.3.4 version, clicking on the "Expert Advice" link will open a new tab with the relevant page (it uses target="_blank"), however on the new system, left clicking the link won't open it at all and it throws an error Blocked script execution in 'URL' because the document's frame is sandboxed and the 'allow-scripts' permission is not set. This seems to be a change in the way that frame is built and means the only way we have of opening the link now is to right click and select "open in new tab".
