Alert rules, clarification on STOP

Env: Ubuntu 12.04 Xymon 4.3.0 All of my alert rules run external scripts for email/page/etc. I have the alerts.cfg file setup with the most granular items at the top (host specific, followed by page specific). When I have a rule such as: HOST=webserver1,webserver2 SERVICE=procs COLOR=red,yellow SCRIPT /home/xymon/server/ext/pg/exalert_web exalert_web REPEAT=30 COLOR=red FORMAT=TEXT DURATION>240 SCRIPT /home/xymon/server/ext/pg/exdigest_web exdigest_web REPEAT=120 FORMAT=TEXT DURATION>120 STOP I expect that any alert for "procs" that matches red/yellow will run those scripts if it fits the DURATION or REPEAT rule. If those have not been satisfied, then I expect the searching of rules to go no farther. Well, it seems that STOP doesn't really mean STOP. In my "info" screen where it shows what alerts are triggered for "procs" I see this: procs exalert_web 4h - 30m - red exdigest_web (S) 2h - 2h - yellow,red BMC_BEM (R) 30m - 3d - yellow BMC_BEM (R) - - 1d - red exalert_OTHCRIT 15m - 15m - red Exwarn_OTHCRIT 15m - 3d - yellow exdigest_OTHCRIT (S) 15m - 2h - yellow,red The items in white above (first 2 lines if the colors don't appear correctly) are what I expect to run and nothing else. The final 5 items (in blue, again if the colors show up correctly) are rules that would match the page etc. Why are rules being processed beyond the STOP? Why are some in blue (I've always wondered this)? And, as long as I am asking, what does the "(S)" represent? custom graph problem

Hi, I am monitoring a size of a file and have created custom graph. NCV value is "data file size: 4500" which is 4500 MB. On graph I have mentioned Y axis as size (MB). Graph is working fine. But Y axis is coming like 4.0 k, 4.1 k, 4.2 k etc. which is not looking good. How do I change the Y axis to full value instead of "k" Or is there any good idea where I can create graph of file size which has no limit. Here the condition is not like disk graph where we know the limit of disk so we can set it in percentage.

pagegen.c: use fixed column width for system name

Hello, I'm using one page to list all the managed systems, and would like to create a more homogenous look of that page. To this end, I've changed the pagegen.c code so that the generated tables are aligned on the left side of the screen. Now, I want to align the check icons so they all start at the same offset (as to avoid a "jumpy" page on which the check icons don't align nicely). I would like to do this by assigning a fixed width tot the column containing the system name (in my case, the NAME tag in de hostst.cfg). If this field has the same width for all systems, all check icons should also start at the same offset. I've been fiddling around in pagegen.c, but I can't figure out what to change to get the above mentioned layout. Can anybody point me in the right direction? kindest regards, Wilbert Jeuken

bbwin woes

Is there any known/documented way to make bbwin client behave more like the xymon client? I really just want to be able to control disk/cpu/mem threshholds on the server as well as see the entire process list and choose which processes to monitor. It's quite annoying having to login to Windows servers to make changes to their configuration.

Hello, We are usign xymon server 4.3.5, i need to change the default load value for one server, now in the xymon server, have the follow values: DEFAULT # These are the built-in defaults. UP 1h LOAD 5.0 10.0 LOAD 20.0 30.0 HOST=server.mydomain.tld DISK * 90 95 MEMPHYS 100 101 MEMSWAP 50 80 MEMACT 85 90 i need to set for the server 'server.mydomain.tld', take the values 20.0 and 30.0, but with this config dont work, please can somebody help me? Xymon Availability report for ALT page

I have my availability reports working great for my main view in Xymon. However, in order to have a different outlay of this, I set up a different page, an ALT page. Everytime I ran the availablity report from the new ALT page, it showed the availability of the main view and not of the ALT page. I introduced a new hobbitserverx.cfg and bb-repx.sh, as well as a new hobbitx.cgi with a second availability report option using these new files but every time I request an availibility report, it shows the old, main page. Does the availiability report use the hosts.cfg? Is there no way for me to use my ALT page as a template for the report generation? thanks S.

Hi all I'm looking at upgrading our current hobbit install to Xymon 4.3.11 and also moving towards using the central mode with bbwin v0.13 One area in particular I'm having issues with is ignoring messages: I've been reading a number of sources on this now and have found conflicting sources of information (the following are a sample) http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/System_Monitoring_with_Xymon/Other_Docs/FAQ #What_are_the_translations_between_BBWin.27s_XML_and_Central_Mode.3F http://lists.xymon.com/oldarchive/2008/06/msg00276.html http://sourceforge.net/p/bbwin/discussion/460874/thread/04a00deb/?limit= 50 On the Xymon server, I have the following defined in the client-local.cfg file: (which is not filtering on the windows client - the bbwin "tmp\clientlocal.cfg" is pulling down these entries correctly btw) [win32] eventlog:security ignore Success eventlog:application ignore information ignore Big Brother Xymon Client service eventlog:system ignore information I notice in the message file on the windows client the sections are called the following, which makes me wonder am I using the correct syntax in client-local.cfg [msgs:eventlog_application] [msgs:eventlog_system] [msgs:eventlog_security] Does anyone have this setup working correctly that they could share some sample config files, or a link to a definitive guide on the integration? Dual-homed clients

Folks I have some devices with multiple IP addresses that I want to monitor. Actually, not quite true - we actually have two paths with different static NAT, so each device can be contacted on either one of two IP addresses. As far as the Xymon server is concerned, there are two IP addresses for the one device. My problem is, what's the best day for me to set this up in Xymon. I want to know if a service goes down on either path. At present, I simply list each IP address with a hostname suffix, like these entries for "host147": 192.168.100.47 host147-a.example.com # ping smtp 192.168.200.47 host147-b.example.com # ping smtp Is this the best I can do?
