I tried contacting the developer of the dbcheck.pl scripts via SF ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/hobbit-perl-cl) but got no response so maybe he will be listening in on here... I took a copy of the SVN dbcheck.pl and have grafted in basic PostgreSQL support using Perl DBI::Pg (does ChkConn and TblSpace checking). Problem with red delay.

Separating Windows and Unix hosts and dropping bbd column from web page

Hi folks. I thought I was getting the hang of this but I seem to be missing something. I set up the hosts.cfg to use include files (see the snip below) to allow us to keep things more readable and managable. I am trying to figure out the best way to put the Windows systems and Unix systems in their own list on the "AllServers" page but still use the include files. Is there a tag or directive I can use on the #CLIENT line to have xymon take a Windows or Unix host and put in it the right group? Also, I'm having a problem getting one of the hosts to get rid of the purple status on bbd. I used the ./bb 127.0.0.1 "server2 drop bbd" command. I went into the hosts.cfg file for that server2 and tried !bbd, nobbd, NOBBD, but it still won't go away. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks! Historical data not available

I've noticed that a lot of times when I try to click on one of the historical status pages in Xymon, I get a message that says "Historical status log not available". This even happens for very recent historical pages. Then I looked at the history.log file and saw a whole bunch of these messages: 2012-03-16 12:06:31 Historylog directory /export/home/hobbit/data/histlogs has less than 5% free space - disabling save of data for 5 minutes But /export/home/hobbit/data/histlogs has plenty of free space left: (hobbit)@hobbit:~$ df -h /export/home/hobbit/data Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/md/dsk/d30 7.9G 4.0G 3.9G 51% /export/home Anyone know what's going on? History log output snapshot too old

It is known that xymon keep for each test output when status is changed. It saves 1st output received from test script (at least for custom tests) and do not update it in history until status is changed. I see this can be a problem is some situations. Imagine the situation - some active sessions appeared in DB, our test is tracking number and details of active sessions It is green when up to 5 sessions It is yellow until 30 sessions But in some circumstances the DB can crash (due to internal problems, which may be or may not caused by active requests) even at 26 sessions and we got status red because of error accessing DB. There may be other cases like this. For example server just crashed and not responding. I want too see last picture what was there just before crash. For me it would be much usefull to see last output snapshot of yellow when I am checking what was before red (before the incodent when DB crashed in out case). Can someone enlighten me? According to analysis.cfg.5.html: Example: Flag "conn" status a yellow if responsetime exceeds 100 msec. DS tcp.conn.rrd:sec >0.1 COLOR=yellow TEXT="Response time &V exceeds &U seconds" if I use: DS conn tcp.conn.rrd:sec > 0.035 color=red xymon (4.3.5) shows (red symbol) sec=0.031800 (> 0.00) Tue Mar 13 11:10:47 2012 conn ok Service conn on Verwaltungsstelle_Tecklenburg_Active is OK (up) (green symbol) 10.43.128.2 is alive (31.8 ms) The value is below the threshold, so it shouldn't go red. Using the above with TEXT: DS conn tcp.conn.rrd:sec > 0.035 color=red TEXT="Response &V to high" xymon shows: (red symbol) "Response 0.031700 to high Tue Mar 13 11:17:08 2012 conn ok Service conn on Verwaltungsstelle_Tecklenburg_Active is OK (up) (green symbol) 10.43.128.2 is alive (31.7 ms) Note that there is a leading qoute sign before "Response". NOCOLUMNS - override .default. ?

Hello, Using Xymon 4.3.7 I have specified a '.default. entry in hosts.cfg which includes the NOCOLUMNS tag. The hosts.cfg man page says that per-host definitions will override the default ones. However, that doesn't seem to work with NOCOLUMNS. Hosts.cfg contains: ========================= 0.0.0.0 .default. # NOCOLUMNS:files,memory,ports,info,trends noclear 141.163.141.163 server-1 # testip conn !ftp !smtp !telnet dns ntp bbd ssh swap memory ports ========================= However, the memory and ports columns do not appear at all. depends - is it working?

What is the official status on using depends? I need to make sure all my http content checks, ssh checks, etc depends on an outside host since the ISP xymon is hosted on is very up and down. Where can I find documentation on how to implement depends? I have tested ROUTE but it only seems to work on conn's . is this true? tia.

Hi there, i have implemented a fresh install of Xymon 4.3.7 for our environment. This includes at this time nearly 300 devices in total. We had used a commercial tool before, and we are in the need to go away from that commercial tool to Xymon. Knowing some of the features we had in the commercial tool, i'm missing these features in Xymon. For each device i'ld like to have a column that provides me with a "PuTTY", "TELNET" or "MSTSC" feature. For example, if it is a Linux server, i'ld like to have a "PUTTY" icon. For a windows machine, i want a "MSTSC" icon. "TELNET" i want to have for several CISCO devices. Currently i have created a ssh-protocol-handler in the local registry of the "viewing" machine. Then i have created HOSTNAME.html files in the server/www/notes directory which enables me to provide links, for example HREF="ssh:HOSTNAME". This enables me to login to the specified host. In general this is what i want. But: i think it's more efficient to have an extra column on the overview site which provides me with the specified protocol link. Would that be possible to implement?
