Hi guys, In my alert rules, HOST=* MAIL webadmin at foo.com SERVICE=http FORMAT=PLAIN My question is, can I add another email address to MAIL? Can I also add another service ? will this be using a comma to separate them Like MAIL webadmin at foo.com, goofy at disney.com SERVICE=http,disk,cpu Thanks

Custom graphs with multiple data sources

I am monitoring a set of load balancers (Alteons) which each have at least 1, but possibly/usually more, virtual addresses configured (for server load balancing groups). At the moment, I use a custom script to poll each device via SNMP and send a single status message per device to Hobbit, based on the session loads on those "virts." I am using NCV for graphing. However, with this, I am only able to manage one graph, and one data source, per device. I would like to graph all the session values. I would also like to use multiple RRD files. My experience with the single-file, multiple-DS approach is that, if I add another virtual, graphing will break (updates error out, probably since the RRD was not created with this new data source defined). I am amenable to changing the scripts to use the data channel approach (using the --extra-script method). I am hoping that I could use the hobbitgraph RRDFN/RRDIDX/RRDPARAM keywords to create the graphs. But, the documentation for custom graphing implies that only a single filename for the incoming data can be specified, so I see no way to split the data into multiple files, single DS per RRD. Short of creating a separate test column for each virtual I am monitoring, is there a better way to collect/plot this information? Hello, My name is Chris. I manage around 50 clients for my company which are being monitored by the free version of Big Brother currently. I would like to move my monitoring over to the GPL Hobbit version. Before I do so, I wanted to obtain a status of the release. I noticed that CVS has been inactive on sourceforge lately. Is this project currently being developed? Is there a release plan anywhere on the site? Yes, that is correct. The only way we start the server or the clients is using the scripts created during installation. Well, the trend graphs are showing data again. The server machine was rebooted but it appears the graphs were showing data prior to the reboot. If I had to guess I'd think that some process running on the client caused the data parsing on the server to go awry and once that process ended things started working again. Is there any hobbit-saved data I can examine that might help me figure this out? I'll keep my eye on this to see what happens next. Greetings, You might also want to have a look at bb-hosts.cgi on deadcat.net. It is a simple, effective script for editing bb-host files. You can use it to modify other files as well by tweaking a few variables in the script. Hello everyone, I'm looking for a one stop web interface that will allow me to edit hobbit's alert file, bb-hosts and maybe event the hobbit-clients file. I saw a couple cgi addons on Deadcat that will allow me to do bb-hosts. Does anyone know if anything like this exists for all the files. Hobbit http check - strange behaviour!?

There is one host that is checked by our Hobbit server (4.2.0-with patches) and now and then the http-check for that host fails. BBTOPDIR and BBHOME

Hi, I wanted to build a client and put in a directory. But all files are placed in a subdirectiry called client. This is hardcoded in the confgure and Makefile scripts. In the Makefile are 2 vaiabele defined: BBTOPDIR and BBHOME. BBHOME = $BBTOPDIR/client. Changing these variabele is not enough because the client subdirectory is also hardcoded in other places. So in some places (for instance the clientlaunch.cfg) BBTOPDIR/client is used, this should be BBHOME. I changed all files and removed the client directory dependency. It's working now. But maybe it's a better idea to change the configure and install scripts and use the variabele BBHOME and BBTOPDIR. Stef
