Hi, Just downloaded the latest 4.1.2-rc1 and tried installing server on a FBSD 5.4-RELEASE box. The daemon is running but a netstat shows that port 1984 is not listening. purple hobbitd_client

Hello again :) I was using the snapshot from 09/26 with no problems. Early this morning sometime, hobbitd_client went purple. I had this problem before, and updating to a snapshot had fixed it. So I updated to RC1 this morning, dropped the column ($HOBBIT/server/bin/bb 127.0.0.1 "drop hobbit hobbitd_column". The purple is still continuing. I looked for a core file in the tmp directory, nothing there. I couldn't find anything further to try in the list history. Any ideas? My server is Fedora Core 4, running 4.1.2RC1. Thanks, Al

[hobbit] Config files overwritten?

Good to know, thanks Henrik... In the past I had just copied the server directory out of the way, and then make install, and copy my config files back into place... Also, I have a questions about external scripts. I have written an external script to monitor HACMP on AIX, is there a repository for scripts besides deadcat? Not sure if this script would work with BB anyway. It won't touch your bb-hosts, hobbit-alerts.cfg, hobbit-clients.cfg files; if tries to merge in added settings to the hobbitserver.cfg, hobbitcgi.cfg, hobbitgraph.cfg, hobbitlaunch.cfg and columndoc.csv files; and it only updates your web/* templates and the www/menu/* files if they haven't been modified since Hobbit was installed. Config files overwritten?

All, What happens to any configuration files that have been changed in the $HOBBIT/server/etc directory if I do a make install to the same location? Are they overwritten, or reused? I'm wanting to do an update to the RC1 from a previous snapshot, and am curious if it will be that easy :) Thanks Al

[hobbit] Minor tweak for the HP-UX client, possibly others for df output

On HP-UX there are two versions of "df". One is called "df" the other is called "bdf". I think that bdf with the appropriate flags will always give output onto a single line; therefore eliminating the need to use "sed". I would think a solution that results in a single output line without needing sed would be preferred. (faster running, cleaner code) I don't have an HP-UX box handy to test bdf on right now; I'm stating this information from memory. Linux boxes using the GNU df command always output a single line when used with the "-P" option. Sed is not needed on Linux. Neil G. Multiple lines can occur on HP-UX servers that have long volume group names, think it may also happen on some versions of Linux boxes, AIX boxes. small problem with client

Suspect I sent this to the wrong address last time: I'm running the Hobbit client on a RedHat ES3 server, the line: $BB $BBDISP "@" < $BBTMP/msg.txt in hobbitclient.sh dependably crashes the client with a segfault. If I replace the line with: $BB $BBDISP "`cat $BBTMP/msg.txt`" It works without a problem. Thanks, Larry Barber

How should I understand the .default. host tag. Ie should I put the following in my bb-hosts 0.0.0.0 .default. # myspecialtag or 0.0.0.0 .default. # nodisp myspecialtag Regards, Thomas Pedersen
