Hobbit server purple after changing name

Hello, I originally set up the hobbit server to be the FQDN, which showed fine on the main page. Then I wanted to change it to the short name. I changed it in the bb-hosts file to be just the hostname and did a ./bb 217.0.0.1 "drop host.domain.com". It was still purple so I did the same command except with the "rename" command. Still purple. The actual tests are green and getting updated though. I also changed FQDN to FALSE in the hobbitserver.cfg. I don't want any hosts to show up as FQDN. Does anyone know why they are they purple? HTTP timeouts

For reasons unknown, my http tests sometimes take a while. As a result I am getting intermittent alarms for "timeout" on the http tests...usually when it exceeds 10 seconds. Is there a way to extend the timeout period for this test? Temperature status formatting for graphs

Hello, After reading over a few threads and staring at do_temperature.c for awhile (like that helped), I'm a bit confused as to what format the data needs to be in. I was using temperature.sh from deadcat as a template for monitoring ambient temp on an IBM H70, but I ended up trimming it down to a basic script for maintenance purposes. So does the data need to be in _exactly_ the same format as sampled in do_temperature.c or can there be extra columns and more spaces? I'd like to add the warn/panic thresholds to the status output for the computer operators.. Thank You, -robert

Status HP-UX 11i v1 (11.11)

Hi All, I downloaded RC3 and started install. First try resulted in atoll (code) was undefined. Got a patch that changed atoll to strtoll. But that also went wrong. After searching for strtoll and hpux I found out something about secret handshake #define strtoll __stroll What's that ? I don't know but I put it in beginning of dodisk.c and the make went well. I have applied and removed and applied patch . But bbtest and hobbit_larrd crash. I was optimistic and installed RC3 over RC2 ( /home/hobbit). But I had a backup. So back to backup. I moved the RC3 files to /home/hobbitc3 and started with make clean, congfigure, make and make install. In configuration I changed every hobbit to hobbitc3. But still the URL /hobbit-seccgi was unchanged. I think all URL's was unchanged. Another thing. I have perl installed as /usr/local/bin/perl That has to be changed in maint.pl. I think that was all for now. Regards Lars

Hello Again, Is there a way to set up "redundant" DISPLAY's? The server that I have running Hobbit will have a counterpart at a remote location. They won't fail over in the sense of a cluster, but, they will have similar functionality for each location. I'm just trying to find out if there is a way instead of having a DISPLAY at each location for local hosts, they can back each other up, without being two separate installs of hobbit. Any ideas? Windows Cluster Monitor

Hello All, Our new director would like to monitor EVERYTHING from BB/Hobbit. We have been monitoring our UNIX and Storage Devices for a few years now. Now that I have windows servers to monitor, I'd like to know if anyone has a decent way to monitor Windows Clusters? I had a thought to monitor by ping each node in the cluster, and the cluster name, ie: Nodea - Application Offline Nodeb - Application Online Clustername - Application Responding @ This address How would you set up resource (process) monitoring for an Active / Passive cluster? Or an Active / Active cluster? This is in response to a problem that has been occurring on a new 24x7 Windows server blue screening daily, in spite of all the "fixes" that have occurred to solve the problem (more hardware, patches, reload os, etc, etc). [hobbit] Windows Cluster Monitor

My current solution for this is pretty messy, but it works for me. In the below I am assuming that you are going to have the windows bb client installed on all nodes of the cluster. Active/Passive: Since want to know when the services fail over I check to ensure processes/services are running on the active node, as well as ensuring that the cluster service is running on both nodes. This let's me know when it fails over so I can investigate immediately. I also run a specific application check against the clustered application on the cluster address to ensure the application itself is up and running. If it isn't then there is a really serious problem. Active/Active: Since I don't do this I can be entirely sure, but this would be easier to monitor I would think, just ensure that all the services required are running on all nodes, including the cluster service itself.
