Ralph, I gave your suggestion a shot today, and just when I think I am making progress learning Linux, I get slapped in the face. I found the hobbitgraph.c and made the changes as you outlined below. I then went to the parent directory (hobbit-4.1.2p1) and ran make, but it errored out with error:2. I checked the mod date on the hobbitgraph.cgi file and it was still set to the date that I originally compiled the program. I am running Hobbit on FC4. Any suggestions? Check Process threshold

Hi All I am looking for a way to check the threshold of a process and kill it if it reaches that. The threshold could be based on CPU percentage or Memory used by that process. Ofcourse I can cookup one unless there is one available as part of hobbit or bb extension scripts. Interesting thing on multi-host graphing

All, Don't know if I am unique in this aspect but thought I would post something I discovered on multi-host graphing (this may be documented, if so, I apologize) I you wanted to graph multiple hosts on the load average graph, you would: 1. click on the "CPU" button for the host 2. click on the graph to get the 4 CPU graphs 3. change the host= in the URL line to be host=hosta,hostb That will work. What doesn't work is: 1. click on the "Trends" button for the host 2. click on the CPU graph to get the 4 CPU graphs 3. change the host= in the URL line to be host=hosta,hostb On the option that doesn't work, it: * changes the title to "Muti-host CPU load last 48 hours" * adds the host name + color to the legend at the bottom But never adds the second host. So the difference is the method of entry into the 4 CPU graph's. Going through the CPU button to get to it works, but going through trends to get to the 4 cpu graph's does not. -Jeff name

Alerting on Server Reboot

Hey all, Does anyone have a recommended solution for triggering an alert when a server is rebooted? Assuming it comes back up within the ping cycle, the conn test still passes. I'm aware that the CPU turns yellow due to the reboot, but is it possible to build an alert rule to trigger on ServerX CPU = Yellow? Thanks for any feedback... --Pat

Hello all, i would like to display more then "one" Graph on conn test (and cpu). Is it possible to show the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly graph like in mrtg? I found no configurable variable in hobbitserver.cfg nor hobbitgraph.cfg. Thanks in advance. Mathias

stopping purple alerts

Fellows, I need your help regarding hobbit alerts. I need to stop the sending of purple messages of services being monitored in the clients. I have already edited the file: hobbitserver.cfg ... and changed the line: ALERTCOLORS="red,yellow" (removing purple) The info column shows that the service being monitored has alerts on color yellow and red only. What other files do I need to edit for the alerts to send emails only on red and yellow colors? There is another line having purple but has comments that it is only used on BB. I haven't made modifications to it yet. If ever it is needed, do I need to re-start hobbit server after modifications? Any help you could extend will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. The interesting thing is that hobbitd here is doing a re-allocation of a buffer, but asking for 0 bytes - and apparently, HP-UX doesn't like that. But I don't see how it can get to asking for 0 bytes in that part of the code... Hobbit with shares.pl file?

Is anyone running the shares.pl scripts from deadcat to monitor file shares with Hobbit? If I run the script from the console manually everything works fine - it checks the shares, reports in, and I get the "shares" column in Hobbit. When I add it to hobbitlaunch.cfg however it doesn't run at every 5 minutes as scheduled. This is the only add-on I have this problem with. There is nothing strange in the hobbitlaunch.log or shares.log where I direct the output. Here is my hobbitlaunch.cfg entry, can anyone think of anything else it may be? After the "Setting up logfiles", that's where the hobbitd output goes. This ought to generate a core-file in the ~hobbit/data/tmp/ directory. Could you check this, and if there is a core file then run it through gdb as described in http://www.hswn.dk/hobbit/help/known-issues.html#bugreport ?
