deleting history of a test

Hi, I had added a test that after some thinking was not reaally needed. I decided to delete it, and its history. I looked at tips and tricks, and tried to run '~/server/bin/bb 127.0.0.1 "drop HOSTNAME dns" ', which did not work apparently. So I went into the ~/data directory, and deleted in hist, histlogs and logs all the data concerning this test. However, on the main page, I still had the test, which was no longer updated, but still existed. It took me some time to find that in ~/server/tmp/ there is a file named hobbitd.chk which does not disappear when you stop/start hobbit. Deleting this file apparently forced hobbit to recreate it, and this time my deleted test had disappeared. Is that the expected behaviour ? Regards, and keep up the great work you re doing on Hobbit. hobbitd_client crashed

For the past couple days, my hobbit server has been showing the "hobbitd_client" process as purple. The error message it shows is: "red - Program crashed Fatal signal caught!" I restarted the hobbit client and server on the hobbit server without any luck. I looked on another hobbit server I have access to, and it doesn't show the "hobbitd_client" process. Also, this only shows up on the server, and none of the clients that I'm monitoring. Can this check be disabled, or does it actually mean anything?

graphs for custom services

I'm struggling with how to get the graphs for a new custom service to show up when you click on the button for the service. The graphs appear fine when the 'trends' button is clicked, but do not appear when the 'voipinfo' button is clicked. Any clues how to do this would be much appreciated. to TRENDS: In the bb-hosts file for the host I added: ,voipinfo:voipinfopages|voipinfoapt|voipinfoaq hobbitserver.cfg =========== I added to the TEST2RRD= definition ,voipinfo=ncv I added to the GRAPHS= definition ,voipinfo I added a new line: NCV_voipinfo="Pages:GAUGE,AvgPageTime:GAUGE,AvgQueries:GAUGE" hobbitgraph.cfg =========== I added these graph definitions: [voipinfopages] ... [voipinfoapt] ... [voipinfoaq] ... And I setup a remote client to report the data back to the Hobbit server.

External Script installation

I am trying to setup bb-imap.pl from http://www.deadcat.net/viewfile.php?fileid=513. So far I've installed each of the required perl modules and placed the BigBrother.pm (Already adjusted bb-imap.pl to point to it) and bb-imap.pl files within the EXT folder. I also added the following to hobbitlaunch.cfg: [bbimap] ENVFILE /home/hobbit/server/etc/bb-imaptab NEEDS hobbitd CMD $BBHOME/ext/bb-imap.pl LOGFILE $BBSERVERLOGS/bb-imap.log INTERVAL 5m When I try to run this test nothing happens within hobbit. If I check the bb-imap.log the only statement it contains is: 2006-03-29 11:33:21 Could not start task bbimap using command '/home/hobbit/server/ext/bb-imap.pl': No such file or directory I'm confused about this because the file does exist at that location. I also changed $test to bbimap from imap2. I'm going to guess I'm missing some installation step on this thing. If someone could point out what I'm not doing right and give me a the correct steps to get this working it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Again, Robert Bethke

Dear Henrik Storner, Well I am using hobbit for large scale around hundreds of routers and more than other devices...it is working pretty fine...and really amazing...I can feel POWER of Open Source... I have one query that " Do we monitor radius services ? " like Freeradius and any professional radius sever which is listening on 1812 & 1813 Port ... Your guideline is really appreciated. [hobbit] Creating Custom Graphs

Hi, I have noticed that I am getting the info of iostat throw hobbitd daemon. The data isn't received throw "hobbitd_channel --channel=status" or "hobbitd_channel --channel=data" - which can explain why I am not getting the rrd graphs. I am just using "data" or "status" in the header of my message to hobbit server. how can I send data to the data or status channel ? [hobbit] msgs test status

Hi, On all our Linux servers the hobbit client is installed on they aren’t reporting msgs – now that’s fine asfar as I’m concerned but it annoys me having the clear status on the screen – I saw a mention on using "--ignorecolumns=msgs" in one of the hobbit server config files but this is no good for me as I still want the windows boxes to report there msgs errors – is there any way currently I can remove the msgs status just from the linux servers? – if it means going around every linux box individually that’s fine or altering the bb-host config file maybe? Need help quick!

This morning, all of a sudden, one of our HOBBIT servers lost the ability to ping other servers. Everything on the network is up and working fine, but the file: /var/log/hobbit/hobbitlaunch.log says: 2006-03-28 10:19:50 Task bbnet started with PID 10586 2006-03-28 10:19:50 Task bbnet terminated by signal 6 and when I run bbtest-net as the user hobbit, I get the following: $ ../bin/bbtest-net 2006-03-28 09:40:27 xgetenv: Cannot find value for variable MACHINE Aborted (core dumped) Help! I have had to shut down paging because the network test is broken and thinks all the clients are dead!
