Remedy Ticketing

I have an existing Remedy ticket generation system for Big Brother that I'm trying to convert to Hobbit. Basically, I had added some code to dohostsvc.c for an additional button next to HISTORY: sprintf(dataline,"<td><FORM ACTION=\"%s/bb-ticket.sh\"><INPUT TYPE=SUBMIT VALUE=\"Open Ticket\"><INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME=\"ACKFILE\" VALUE=\"%s\"><INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME=\"TIMEBUF\" VALUE=\"%s\"></FORM></td>\n",cgibinurl,filename,logtime); strcat(hostsvcdata,dataline); This passed the form data to a shell cgi script, and from there I was able to grab whatever data I needed from the history logs. If someone even wanted to open a ticket on a historical event, they could, because the TIMEBUF always pointed to the correct event log. Now, I see the part in htmllog.c that creates the historybutton(), but I can't see where I might be able to grab the TIMEBUF from. I tried an xgetenv("TIMEBUF") but no luck. Any other way I can get the timestamp?

How does linecount work?

Shirefolk: I am playing with the nifty new 4.2 features, and was trying to get the "linecount" function to work. I *thought* I could maybe use this to track the number of entries in a file, and perhaps graph over time, but I am starting to suspect that Henrik meant linecount for something else. I see where you configure client-local.cfg with: linecount:<filename> <handle>:<regex> This should alert the Hobbit agent to start grepping <filename> for <regex> and somehow bind the count to <handle>? Then what? Do you configure something in hobbit-clients.cfg to match this? I tried: LOG <filename> .* COLOR=GREEN To see what would happen, but nothing did... GLH

Client build group permissions

[hobbit] Informal survey about commercial support for Hobbit

You mean the support could be better than this??? Good trick! :-) And an observation my father made a long time ago -- "When you start making money from your hobby, it becomes work, and work isn't as much fun." Now that I've got that out of the way -- my management has come around several times, wondering if there was any way of providing you with compensation for all the work you're doing, and this could be it (but keep your amazon wish list up to date, please!). Unlike others on this list, we don't run any 'mission-critical' systems (at least not by IBM's definition) and while we have several 'enterprise-critical' systems, hobbit as-is does very nicely for us. We would most likely be interested an a reasonably priced annual fee for the opportunity to get either custom modifications to hobbit (based on the past couple of change requests, this looks more like "getting our stuff moved to the top of the priority list") or consultation and assistance in implementing custom tests. This would be direct email support, 24 hour response, and should probably be limited to one such mod/test per calendar quarter. As for 'reasonable price' -- somewhere in the $2500 to $3000 US range. There is, of course, no guarantee we'd sign up for this if you offer it. fping usage under solaris

Files size graph scaling

I noticed that the file size graph has an axis title of KB yet the data is not scaled to match. Should there be a division by 1024 to turn the file size in bytes into a file size in KB? (Easy fix, but...) GLH

[hobbit] Not seeing custom footer scripts in 4.2.0 -- What'd I do wrong?

Never mind. (sigh) -- The joys of having a test and a production implementation, and not paying attention to what you're doing. I clobbered my 'custom' bb_footer in the production environment when the webfiles were installed. It's the standard bb_footer with three additional lines, giving an explanation of what all the icons mean. Memory leak in the hobbitd_alert module

Just a note for those of you running the 4.2.0 version: There is a memory leak in the hobbitd_alert module (the one doing the e-mail or script alerts), so that each time a message is sent out it will leak memory.
