Disable of http Test

Hello All, We do a lot of application deploys here which brings down the http server. Of course users don't call-in to disable the hobbit server. I was wondering is there a way to disable a test via the command line from another server, so that I can add the hobbit disable of http test during a deploy of applications. I then want to script re-enabling it at the end of the deploy script. Thanks..James James Wade

how do you use the linecount method and how to implement it. I am trying to get alarmed when a word doesn't show up in a file. I was hoping that i could use the line count method and then alarm when the line count is 0. Thanks Josh

AIX Hobbit Client Update - Tar Error

Hi, Hobbit newbie here. I am having issues with the clientupdate on some AIX systems. Some of the AIX systems have the following error message in hobbitclient.log: /opt/freeware/bin/tar: Unexpected EOF in archive /opt/freeware/bin/tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now 2007-10-03 19:02:14 Upgrade failed, tar exited with status 512 The clientupdate is working on other AIX boxes. This is occurring on some AIX 5.2 and 5.3. The tar that is used to update with is good because another AIX box is successfully updating with it. I tried re-creating the tar, but that did not help. Any insight on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dev.

Creating hosts to monitor, do not resolve hostname

I have been using BB 1.9 for a long time and finally found myself the time to migrate to Hobbitmon. I am very impressed and pleased with the superior application and documentation! The upgrade document ( http://hobbitmon.sourceforge.net/docs/bb-to-hobbit.html ) was very useful, the impression I got was that bb-hosts operated the exact same way. While I have found it is close to identical - something that my BB did not do was resolve hostnames and monitor those addresses resolved. I was always able to monitor the IP address and the hostname acted as a host identifier, nothing more. I have a lot of "fake" hostnames that are catching wildcards on domains that are resolving to undesired IP addresses. I think that this would be a beneficial feature for me in several cases as some monitored hosts do have their IP change from time to time, though I have an SH script that updates bb-hosts for me. Having said that, I would like to keep this feature enabled. What would be the best course of action for me to fix my problem here? Is there a tag that I can add to the hosts I don't want to be resolved by chance? Is there anything I can do outside of adding a hostname record for every single monitored host? Hobbit Not Installed Properly

Hobbit PDF reporting question

Thomas, if you are still checking the list, I have a question regarding the PDF reporting. I was finally able to find some time to set this up on my server but I am running into an error with FPDF. I have been unable to find an answer using Google. I am getting the following error: FPDF error: Can't open image file: /usr/lib/hobbit/server/www/pdf/graphrrd/servername/servername.load-month.png. I have checked the directory and the file does exist. I also checked the permissions have the following rwxr-r--. Of course if anyone else may know a solution I would appreciate it. Hobbit with MYSQL

Has any one been able to get Hobbit data into MYSQL? I just started using Hobbit in our Development Env which was not monitored at all due to licensing issue.
