Hi, I want to learn about snmp, so I downloaded the source to net-snmp 5.4.1 and installed it. Now I want to test hobbit_snmpcollect. How is it run and what do I expect to see. hi Stewart, thanks for that. no i hadn't installed it yet but do i have to install it on the same box i installed the hobbit server?..plus some of these devices i wanted to monitor are like routers..so how do i install the client on a router?? Can I do macro in hobbit-client.cfg like hobbit-alerts.cfg ?

I am looking for following MACRO(R1) syntax to work in hobbit-client.cfg beside hobbit-alerts.cfg $A=a.com|b.com PROC sendmail 1 -1 red $B=b1.com|b2.com PROC syslog 1 -1 red $ALL=$A|$B PROC cron 1 -1 red So all 4 machines will have cron process monitored beside group A have sendmail and group B have syslog processes monitored. adding a view for disabled (blue) systems, similiar to the non-green view

Was asked to add a new option to the view pull down menu called "Disabled Systems", which would be exactly the same as the Non-green view except show all of the systems with blue instead of red & yellow. I know this data is generated by the cgi-bin/hobbit-nongreen.sh script, so I created another one called hobbit-blue.sh and had it filter on blue colors. It grabs the correct host data, but I guess I need it to be run through bbgen for the webpage to be rendered properly and to produce something like a bb2.html. Is there an easier way to accomplish this w/o having to patch the hobbit source code (bbgen.c, process.c)? Thanks, Tom

Problem using bbwinupdate

Hello, I have a problem with a bbwin client not updating its configuration as I'd like it to. In the tmp folder on the client, only an empty file (1 byte) appears and accordingly, the configuration stored on the server is not applied. I am using Debian etch with Hobbit 4.2.0. The BBWin docs say I have to put the files in $HOBBITHOME/server/etc, which I reckon to be $BBHOME/server/etc. This folder contains a 'bbwinupdate' folder with the 2 configuration files for the server, and the server contains the following section: <bbwinupdate> <setting name="filename" value="bbwinupdate/default.cfg" /> <setting name="filename" value="bbwinupdate/tamboernas01.cfg" /> </bbwinupdate> The rest of the cfg was copied out of the BBWin manual, adjusting only the "bbdisplay" value to point at the server. All the graphs are updating nicely. Oddly enough, I don't see the "default.cfg" file in the tmp folder on the client. "default.cfg" file contains the configuration example from the manual save for the bbwin section, and the "tamboernas01.cfg" contains: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="us-ascii" ?> <configuration> <disk> <setting name="C" warnlevel="80" paniclevel="95%" /> <setting name="E" warnlevel="95%" paniclevel="98%" /> </disk> </configuration> What am I missing? [hobbit] Securing hobbit

I did as suggested using an .htaccess file, but nothing happens. Is there some way to test? I know that this is really an Apache question more so than a Hobbit question, but if there is anyone trying to do this, please help. I followed Henrik's instruction and I can't see what I could possibly be doing wrong. Apache graphs broken (NAN)

Hiya people, OK. So I have managed to break (part) of my hobbit install. The background is as follows. I have a host (say host.org) and it used to monitor a website (www.host.org) and used the apache check (apache=http://www.host.org/server-status?auto) to generate the apache graphs. This host was also running various other websites using virtual hosts. Anyway, I moved the www.host.org site from the host.org machine and wanted to monitor the host.org site (no www). So I changed the entry in bb-hosts. and restarted. The apache graphs have since stopped updating. I have tried removing the rrd file, removeing the .chk files in tmp (both when hobbit was stoppped) I guess there must be something I am missing here; can anyone point out what it is? Cheers PS.
