multiple http test

Hi Henrik, 1) I want to have multiple http test for the same host. We have so many web servers running on the same host. Here we can't differentiate those processses by some unique pattern (otehrwise 'procs' would be helpful). So I need to do multiple http test all having different service name, so that my group of people got the mail of the service which fails individually. so that I used following in the bb-hosts file. group-only files|http1|http11 OTHER BOXES 1.2.3.4 xyz # cont=http1;http://xyz.com:8080/index.html;First cont=http11;http://xyz.com:1016;busy In hobbit-alerts.cfg : HOST=%*.xyz.com MAIL abc at xyz.com SERVICE=%http* COLOR=red DURATION>1 RECOVERED Now, all went fine if both the sites are up. but problem starts when one of the sites went down. In that case I got the "No output received from server" on the hobbit web page after clicking on that service & it went white. I need it to be red, so that I can set alert for the same. Here I am using iPlanet as web server & Jboss as application server. 1016 is the port where jboss listens. My concern is why the test become white instead of red, if it didn't find the page only? Manually by typing the URL in IE it gives "page can't be displayed" If I use http test (without cont=) then it went red. I understand that might be hobbit tried to find out the contents on the web page. ( am i right?) but then as i mentioned earlier I might not be able to set seperate http test. please suggest the work around. 2) Another thing I want to mention that initially I made two tests - http1 & http11. When I removed cont=http1;http://xyz.com:8080/index.html;First from bb-hosts file and replaced http11 with http1 then old data is not refreshed! I restarted hobbit server also. but the old data remains on the web page and can't be refreshed(even time is also showing the last successful refreshed on the web page). Actually now on web page i should able to see the result of - http://xyz.com:1016 for http1 test as i removed old http1 test & replaced it with http11 test. But still I am able to see result of - http://xyz.com:8080/index.html. Even though I already removed it from the bb-hosts file. can we call it as bug? Or please suggest me, if I am missing something. I have it working now. The dev box helped me prove that the server needs Manage the config files "as you had said" for thresholds for AIX. I just need to move that to production. Hi, I tried this both ways, with the --local on the client and editing the Server side hobbit-clients.cfg, reloaded the server and still does not pick up the new params or the IGNORE? Any suggestions? Hi, The script qpage.pl works when I specify a HOST, but when I try to page hosts with the option PAGE, list the page/subpage/subparent the qpage.pl will not page the hosts under the PAGE list. However, I do see the hosts listed in the hobbit notifications.log file, but, the pages do not get listed in qpage.log Eric, I am trying to simplify my hobbit-alerts.cfg script, I would like not to list all the hosts (hundreds) just list the PAGE they are under. email alert oddity

Hello all, Here's a mystery for you. We have an alert rule set up to alert a group of recipients of a "red" condition and, when the condition is relieved, to send a "recovered" email. a couple of days ago we noticed that we received the initial "red" email but no recovered email. alert and recovery emails went out for this exact same test before and after this one incident. We looked in notifications log in /var/log/hobbit and didn't even see that an alert email was attempted. Also, shortly after the "red" alert was issued, the test timed out and went purple. Although this is not unusual, I believe we usually get a "recovered" email when it recovers from a "purple" condition as well. Again, it doesn't appear to be a problem any longer, but it's bugging me that we can't figure out what caused this problem. Any ideas where to look for clues? HTTP 404 not found

Hi all, I have just reloaded another server with Hobbit on Fedora 7. Firewall and selinux have been diabled. Hobbit owns the rights of all the files in the /home/hobbit dir And the default path is set to /var/www/cgi-bin. I still get the error http 404 not found.. Please can u help

HI, When I install hobbit client I have chosen client side client configuration am trying to monitor ordinary files, log files and process. I have edited localclient.cfg in the client side and added following entries before Default LOG %.* WARNING COLOR=yellow LOG %/var/(adm|log)/messages %(I/O|read).error COLOR=red PROC cron But I did not see anyupdates on the frontend gui.when I click on the msg or files I can see only client does not report any data error message.
