Hobbit main view stopped updating

Hi all, We had a meltdown today with our server that hobbit is monitoring, and once we finally bounced the processes that had shown up as purple (after ensuring they wouldn't bomb out again) hobbit completely froze up. It still refreshes, but it's time is showing the exact time that we bounced the erroneous process. All of the status pages give a "Status not available" page. I've tried rebooting the hobbit server, although I have yet to try rebooting the entire server that's still showing up as offending. Is there some way to reset this? Thanks, Brian Thompson

How to make bb2 ONLY include certain columns

Is there any way to make bb2 ONLY contain certain columns or do I have to explicitly say "--bb2-ignorecolumns=test1,test2,...,test1040,test1041" ? Sadly that isn't hyperbole. stephen

migration to hobbit: 3 questions

Fellow hobbits, I am almost ready to cut over from BB to Hobbit. I've been running the two servers on two different hosts for some time. I disconnected them from each other (i.e. now they don't know about each other) a week or so ago. I have 3 questions I haven't been able to find answers to on the archives, etc. Feel free to point me to any info I've overlooked. Note: using Hobbit 4.2.0/allinone patch, Solaris 10. 1) I found info about client side monitor scripts, but they all assume that the script should run on all clients (near as I can tell). Is there a way in clientlaunch.cfg to tell the hobbit client launch that a script only needs to be run on one client. We update configurations with rdist so the same file will be on all clients. I could mark it up with m4, but I'd rather not have to do that. I could also write the script to check to make sure it was running on the correct host(s), but that seems kind of wasteful (I'm probably showing my age :-). 2) I have some clients which show white on msgs constantly. Others are green, one other toggles between green and white every 1.5 to 3.5 minutes. As I said above, we have the same config files on all the clients, so what could be causing this? Red, yellow and green I could understand, but white and green I don't. 3) I'm having a lot of trouble understanding the shared memory configuration for Solaris 10. I know this isn't a hobbit question, but if there is any info out there on just what I need to do on the hobbit server to make sure I have enough allocated, I'd like to see it. I'm getting pretty consistent messages for hobbitd on the server saying "Oversize data/ client msg from ... truncated" which I surmise from some mail I've seen that it is about the shared memory space. Where is BB equvilent of notification.log in HB ?

I am interested to see what alerts got sent out, on BB it is is acks/notification.log file. Monitoring Non-routable Address Space

Greetings, I have hobbit up and monitoring correctly quite a number of systems. However, today I am trying to monitor a system in non-routable address space and it does absolutely nothing. The system name does not even come up in the list of systems to be monitored. The hobbit server is in the same address space and can ping the system I want to monitor. I am at a loss for what is happening..... Thoughts. Bill

rrd files corrupted

Hi, Somehow, a number of the rrd files used to display the various hobbit graphs have become corrupted. I'm not entirely sure how this happened, although I do suspect a power outage that took down the hobbit server machine. Is there any way to recover from this situation? I'm using 4.0.4 server side, and rrdtool-1.0.49. I've had a look at the rrdtool man pages, and I don't think I can recover the rrd files as such. e.g. trying to get info about a file... $ /usr/local/rrd*/bin/rrdtool info la.rrd ERROR: 'la.rrd' is not an RRD file The server OS is Solaris 8 on UltraSparc. Hi, I searched the archive, the same issue was already asked but no answer. I m having the same logs in all my hobbitclient.logs. except the client installed in the hobbit servers. All remote clients same error message. Any help is apreciated. Thanks.
