Hey Henrik, I know this would be a rather significant change but have you considered switching hobbit to use xml based config files? I'm actually working on an external module that will use an xml config file and thinking about the schema, etc it occurred to me that hobbit would lend itself nicely to xml configs. Just curious... =G=

HPUX hobbit client install problem

I created the hobbit user and untarred the hobbit tar file. I then ran ./configure.client and rfeceived the following error: Configuration script for Hobbit client This script asks a few questions and builds a Makefile to compile Hobbit Checking your make-utility GNU make is required to build Hobbit. If it is available as "gmake", run configure as: 'MAKE=gmake ./configure.client' I have gcc installed and I can see the make program in /usr/bin. Thanks to all for your help. Placing the hobbit-apache.conf ScriptAlias into the httpd.conf file and restarting apache worked. I look forward to making hobbit our server monitor of choice. To put the client on machines you wish to monitor, copy over the source bundle, un-tar it and run the configure.client script. You can then run make && make install to install the client. Alert via my own test script still failed

I put the commands in a script alert.sh and call that script in hobbit-alerts.cfg: HOST=my_linux SERVICE=disk SCRIPT alert.sh my_linux But still failed, no alert messages sent while disk state went to warning level, color was changed. alert.sh: #!/bin/sh echo "$RCPT disk went to warning state" |smbclient -M cici echo "$BBHOSTNAME disk reached warning state" |write hobbit This test script works well in terminal mode. Custom graphs: RRD database won't populate

I'm trying to do my first custom graph, using data collected from a custom script. The script collects data fine, and successfully updates hobbit at it's regular five minute increments. The data as sent looks like this: five : 17 ten : 24 fifteen : 30 twenty : 42 thirty : 62 fortyfive : 81 sixty : 108 ninety : 166 onetwenty : 218 oneeighty : 349 The column name is 'recent'. Here's BBHOSTS: group-only recent|pending|stuck Maestro 0.0.0.0 maestro_alarm_cases # prefer noconn recent pending stuck NAME:"Alarm Cases" and hobbitserver.cfg: TEST2RRD="cpu=la,disk,inode,qtree,memory,<more stuff>,ports,clock,lines,recent=ncv" NCV_recent="five:GAUGE,ten:GAUGE,fifteen:GAUGE,twenty:GAUGE,thirty:GAUGE ,fortyfive:GAUGE,sixty:GAUGE,ninety:GAUGE,onetwenty:GAUGE,oneeighty:GAUG E" I stopped/started hobbit server. I've been watching the 'recent' column update regularly every five minutes, for at least 45 minutes now. But there doesn't appear to be any RRD data file for this 'recent' test: find /development/hobbit/data/rrd -name "*recent*" -print The above 'find' command finds nothing related to 'recent' (although there are plenty of OTHER test's RRD files in that directory - default tests - just not my custom test) I must have missed something simple. I've gone over the hobbit webserver's HTML help on "Custom Graphs" several times, but can't find the cause of my error.

I have installed hobbit on a Linux 2 server. It installed fine and the startup script ran fine. I also made sure that the hobbit-apache.conf file was ok. Whe I access the web page http://batman/hobbit/ <http://batman/hobbit/> I receive a message page not found. What am I doing wrong. Thanks.
