Hey, I want to replace the default hobbit disk tests with a script I've written that allows me to group partitions as a single volume. I know I need to disable Hobbit's built-in monitor but I also want my script to use the disk column...what would be the best way to accomplish this? Unless I'm missing something, I don't see an easy way to do this. =G=

hobbit-alerts question

I am having a problem with alerts going to the wrong people. I have a line in hobbit-alerts.cfg: HOST=%pan$ (this is just for demo and test purposes, I know that particular entry doesn't make a lot of sense ) The problem is that this line is matching with a host name "pandora". Is there any way to stop this? Thanks, Larry Barber

Ping question

Hi, I have 1 hobbit server that successfully monitors all of my servers. (with all of the problems everyone mails about, just had to say that up front heh) But yes, I do have a question :-) Hobbit server A monitors client B. Client B has a a private connection to a network that nobody else can be on except for it. Client B talks to some production server over that network. Today, that production server went down. Now I have been asked to do the following: I need to be able to ping monitor the production server. I can ping the production server from Client B. Hobbit server A can ping client B, but not the prod. server (as only client B has that ability) So in other words "Hobbit - I want you to ping prod server through client B" - the other way would be "Client B - I want you to ping prod. server and report the status to Hobbit" Help! :-) Thanks, Jeff

New install on Solairs 10 (compile errors)

Hello all, I downloaded Hobbit today and all of the packages and dependancies that are needed. I have checked all of the dependencies and have followed the install instructions and I am getting an the following error under Solaris 10. I am sure that I have missed some small thing and I am not sure what it is. The file " label.h " does not exist on the system, what package should it have been installed with? LOG IGNORE matching

I may still not be understanding how the pattern matching is done for the LOG keyword. I have: LOG /var/adm/messages %(?-i)auth.error COLOR=yellow IGNORE="%(?-i)sshd|flavor_basic: (null)" Which I think should mean: look for the string "auth.error" in /var/adm/messages and then ignore lines with "sshd" OR "flavor_basic: (null)" in them. If I *only* have IGNORE=sshd that seems to work, but I really need to ignore both (at least for my testing), but when I do it as above, I get yellow screens for auth.error lines even if they have the string "sshd" in them. Am I missing something? BTW, in BB I have a very long list of strings to ignore. Is there an easier way to do that in hobbit other than to put each string into an IGNORE clause? Thanks, Steve Holmes

Disk i/o check for Windows?

Hey all. I've seen the script for vmio which monitors virtual memory and disk i/o stats on a UNIX server. Does anyone have something similar for Windows? I need to check page file usage and disk i/o on Windows and couldn't find anything on the deadcat site that already did this. Thanks! Shawn
