I've had to reply to myself as hobbit mail isn't getting through to me for some reason. Gary or others do you know how I can get it to chart the exact vale that comes in then. It's a bit silly having a graph of 4.8 jobs etc. Also 4.5 is the average of 4 and 5 so it doesn't make much sense anyway, Also it's the data at the bottom of the graph that is really odd - queue max = 1.5m, running average 445.0m? Not sure where that data is coming from? Hi all I'm adding some custom scritps to hobbit an bbd is now purple. I can't find any indication as to what would cause this. I've looked through the logs and all seems well. Any pointers as to what could be causing this? -- Regards Wayne Gemmell

We recently rolled out a sun grid engine platform and I'm now trying to gather performance/usage information from it (if someone already has a collection of scripts this would also help me immensely). I've written a perl script that passes job queue information to hobbit which outputs in the following format: Running jobs : 7 Queued jobs : 0 Xfering jobs : 0 Errorstate jobs : 0 This should be ideal for ncv and I have therefore added ginfo=ncv to TEST2RRD in hobbitserver.cfg as well as NCV_qinfo="Runningjobs:GAUGE,Queuedjobs:GAUGE,Xferingjobs:GAUGE,Errorsta tejobs:GAUGE" on its own line because this is fluctuating data and not a counter. Bandwidth Usage

Are there any statistics available to determine the total bandwidth usage for a default hobbit client over a period of time? A day, week or month would be perfect. I'm trying to determine what the impact would be for client deployments across a slow connection. Thanks

User access in hobbit

I am wondering if I am able to give a user certain access in hobbit. Say I have 3 groups, Switches, Routers, and Servers. There are 4 people that would need access. I would have access to all groups but user1 only Switches, user2 only Routers and user3 only Servers. Is there a way to do something like this in hobbit? Thanks Josh

Hi guys, Can I monitor the cpu utilization on my cisco switches ? im currently monitoring but with a ping only. Any ideas if more can be monitored using hobbit ? Thanks

Runtime 31 longer than time limit (20)

Hi, I was looking for information about this issue but, apparently there is not :-( I'm running hobbit 4.2 using hobbitping poll 12 hosts. Some of those hosts are behind a 2Mbps link, and almost all the time that link is 3% busy. The rest of the hosts are in the same LAN as the hobbit server. I need to poll 12 hosts within 20 seconds intervals, but it take 30 seconds the complete process. I read that hobbitping is fastest than fping, and there is some Fping examples that show that 12 hosts would be ping in 20 seconds without any problem. I have been looking through the docs and know how RRDTool works, but how does the Hobbit zoom function work? How would I modify the defaults to create RRDs where the 5 minute detail was stored for 6 months? I can't find the place where I would modify that. As a result of modifying that, I think as long as the 5 minute resolution is stored, the zoom function would automatically pick out the 5 minute resolution and use that information to render the graph, correct? Compiling Hobbit client errors on make install Centos 5.1

Compling client on CentOS 5.1 and the 'make install' errors out =( I was able to compile the client on CentOS 5, I'm using GCC shown here: Installed Packages Name : gcc Arch : i386 Version: 4.1.1 Release: 52.el5.2 Size : 8.7 M Repo : installed Summary: Various compilers (C, C++, Objective-C, Java, ...) The new server is running GCC as this shows: Installed Packages Name : gcc Arch : i386 Version: 4.1.2 Release: 14.el5 Size : 9.5 M Repo : installed Summary: Various compilers (C, C++, Objective-C, Java, ...)
