interesting patterns in graphs

Our ping times occasionally turn up graphs like the attached... It seems to me that this is an artifact of how rrd averages multiple into time "buckets" but I am not quite sure of that... anybody have an opinion as to what causes it? Problem with hobbitd_rrd custom graph

Hi all, I'm trying to create a custom graph for hobbit but am having some problems. I have a script doing SNMP probing and returning status messages to hobbit. I have another script that generates RRD definitions for hobbitd_rrd.
