Hi all I have been asked for some odd features in the past, but I think these top the lot. After decommissoning a server, how can we make the data and graphs available for a period of time through the Hobbit interface. The idea being that we can compare new server loads, performance and quirks with the old, if we need to. (Keep in mind, the actual server will be long gone, we just want access to the rrd graphs and history) I would like to create a subpage with decommissioned servers, have everything remain green, and have historic data viewable? Now for the other request. Assuming the correctness of the following concept Server_Utilisation=f(CPU utilisation,memory usage) Where f() is not clearly defined yet, can we use hobbit to generate a report of most utilised and least utilised servers? Hobbit development

Hi guys Was there a decision made regarding a separate hobbit developer list? One of my colleagues is interested in getting involved. Also, I remember there being mention of customisable look and feel, and possibly local skins. Are there any plans to head in that direction? Hobbit server crashing

Hi all Henrik, I think this might be one for you. My Hobbit server crashed and died. This happened before, a few months ago, and I shrugged it off - sometimes sh1t happens. Then it happened last week again. This time I was concerned. Now it has just happened again, about 40 minutes ago. I tried to restart hobbit, without much luck, then I walked away, put my son into bed, and then tried again. This time it worked. The logs never showed anything conclusive, but maybe I just don't know what I am looking for. The symptoms were the same all three times. All "passive" server based tests go purple. By passive server based, I mean conn, http, content, ssh, ftp, ftps, etc. The tests that do not rely on a client. Also went purple, was bbd and bbtest. All client based tests were unaffected. Graphing worked as normal. And alerts were being sent out. I am running 4.2 with all-in-one patch, the Sun if-config patch, the bbwin update and the devmon update. Has anybody seen anything like this before? Anybody got any tips on where to look for the problem, or how to diagnose this? Regards Vernon NOTICE: This email and any attachments are confidential. [hobbit] config report

Thanks, Henrik. Is there any way I can feed an arbitrary list of hosts to report on? The list of about 150 hosts I need to report on are located on several different pages. It reports on the hosts below the page in the Hobbit page hierarchy that it is invoked from. This is controlled by the "pagepath" cookie. Any thoughts? Perhaps your hobbit server is an older version ? 4.1 did not support the dynamic ghost-list page, as far as I recall. Does the command bb 127.0.0.1 "ghostlist" return any data ? Sun Grid Engine monitoring

While I not been involved in the effort yet,we are about to bring as "farm" under Sun Grid Engine in to production. Anyone doing any monitoring like this? I saw a script on deadcat. I really know little about it but said Id check into what monitoring and metrics could be done by hobbit.

Release date, stability of 4.3 trunk

I'm wondering whether there is any projected release date for version 4.3. Now that our benevolent dictator has returned, I hope there will be increased development towards making what's there release-worthy. I downloaded the newest trunk version of hobbitmon this morning, used the debian build directory to make packages, and installed it on a test server running debian etch. As you probably know, it's got some bugs. Although I have some experience with C code, I'm not a programmer. In recent years all my programming has been system administration scripts in Perl. There are tons of compiler warnings, at least with the compiler I'm using. Presumably most of them are not true problems, the data types and code just need a little massaging to bring things in line. Do you already know what's causing most of them and how to fix it, or would you like some help tracking them down? gcc version 4.1.2 20061115 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.1-21) Thanks, Shawn

Hobbitd status shows the correct list of ghost clients but the menu item returns "Failed to retrieve ghostlist from server". Any thoughts?
