Here's a script I used to convert bbwarnrules.cfg to hobbit-alerts.cfg. It's far from perfect, but might help you save some labor. We also used host groups and page groups fairly extensively in bbwarnsetup.cfg. I'll certainly give that some thought. Comma-separated is just the easiest when it comes to converting my existing bbwarnrules.cfg file as I can just select the hosts and replace spaces with commas. Going forward I had thought of using macros, but I'll look at PAGEs too. On a related note, I highly recommend trying to get away from using a comma separated list as it's a nightmare to maintain. I'm working toward using the PAGE token, where a list of hosts on a given page alerts a group, so you're effectively grouping your hosts based on the support team responsible. There will still be exceptions, but if you can generalize alerts so all the hosts on a given page can alert the same way, you'll save time and avoid the possibility of a host not having an alert configured. Hi all I know this is a bbwin question, but the bbwin list appears to have died a horrible death, and our Windoze admin has asked me to help. --- start Windoze Admin mail --- Windows 2003 R2 SP2 x64 - bbwin external 'cluster.exe' GetVersionExW failed on this system. Error 122 This version of Windows is not supported for Windows Clustering. I've searched the lists but haven't been able to reference the BBWin external as in our configuration. Debian Packaging

This email is intended for Christoph Berg, the guy who's packaged hobbit 4.2 for the next Debian version and etch-backports, but I thought others might be interested. Keep in mind for this message that I am referring to this specific source package, not the debian directory included in Henrik's original source. I haven't done an in-depth study, but I've noticed that most of what's in the allinone patch is not included in this packaging effort. When I apply the allinone patch against the source tree after debian/rules applies its patches, only two of the patches fail to apply - the one for ./hobbitd/rrd/do_ncv.c is already applied, and the one for ./hobbitd/wwwfiles/menu/menu_items.js.DIST fails because this file doesn't exist. In fact, the enture hobbitd/wwwfiles/menu directory is empty. For my production server, I have taken the source package and applied the allinone and bbwin patches to it, but now I am wondering if that was a good idea. Is the allinone patch omitted from the debian package for a good reason? Why is that menu directory empty? Thanks, Shawn

delete queued alerts

We had add an 'a-ha' moment the other day when our Hobbit server lost network connectivity, and once rebooted it blasted out basically every alert configured. If this were to happen again, is there a way to silence or delete queued alerts before rebooting? I'm also curious how this community handles a case like that.
