And you can even have nested HOST flags, e.g.: HOST=%myhost(.*) SERVICE=conn,http,imap,pop3,smtp MAIL CommaSeparatedE-MailAddresses HOST=myhost.whatever Very nice for having different DURATIONs depending on the interface of myhost that is being network tested. :) Oh, BTW, I also discovered you can add durations and colors and things to the hobbitd_alert --test: ./bin/bbcmd hobbitd_alert --test myhost smtp --duration=11 And similar. Especially as I have no proven ability to patch man pages. In fact, I don't know what the syntax is for them, and while I'm sure I could learn pretty easily, I'm really too busy in my work to justify this right now. And, anyway, I was trying to encourage someone who had or knew some more complex examples to submit them first. And, on that subject, I was _going_ to ask if it was possible to do this: HOST=myHost MAIL myEmail SERVICE=procs,smtp ... Since that isn't documented either: all the examples have SERVICE on the same line as HOST. Well, I decided I'd test it myself with: $ ./bin/bbcmd hobbitd_alert --test And the answer is yes so long as you put the SERVICE= after the MAIL command. (If the SERVICE= is before the MAIL command, as in: HOST=myHost SERVICE=procs,smtp MAIL myEmail ... then it is as if you had: HOST=myHost # Becomes irrelevant as the parser reckons the next line is another completely separate rule. hobbitdxboard: not xml compliance

I just tried the hobbitdxboard command I found some text in the output: <Sender>127.0.0.1 </Sender> The hobbitdboard command has the same issue. I tried it on an other hobbit server and there is the output ok. I don't understand where the comes from. Stef

Services listed multiple times on the info page

Hi, for some systems some services are listed multiple times in the alerting table on the info page. E.g. conn and cpu are listed three times but http is listed only once. Though there is no different alerting configuration for the different services. I couldn't figure out any negative effect yet. However it looks strange. Is there any known bug? Alerting does not work for more than 3 scripts?

Hi, I've configured 4 SCRIPT entries for a host in hobbit-alerts.cfg. However only 3 recipients are being notified. These notifications are also logged in /var/log/hobbit/notifications.log. hobbitd_alert --test and --dump-config are showing for SCRIPT entries as expected. Netapp.pl snapmirror rules howto ?

Hi there I'm trying to tweak the netapp.pl ext-script to accommodate snapmirror rules, and I ran into a problem... In the netapp.ini file there are some descriptions about how to define your own rules, but I keep getting errors when I try to define my own. Just to check that I have understood it correct, you are supposed to make a line called: Rule1=source:destination:...etc.. And then a line where you use the rule you defined. Snapmirrorcheck=Rule1 The problem is that I have some specific snapmirrors which I would like to ignore, and others which I would like to monitor normally... Example: SourceFiler:volume DestinationFiler:volume When you define a rule, the separator is ":" which is also a part of the source and destination... are you able to escape this like this: Rule1=SourceFiler\:volume:DestinationFiler\:volume:options:etc.... I think an example from someone who uses this would be the best help for me ;-) I hope someone uses this somewhat old script :) /Heino
