Hello, I defined several jobs in hobbitlaunch.cfg, all DISABLED. I fired up hobbit, and then started enabling those jobs one by one. I do see in hobbitlaunch.log a "Loading tasklist configuration from ..." a couple seconds after saving the new version of hobbitlaunch.cfg But the job never starts. And even stranger : enabling/disabling an ENABLED job does work normaly. Right now, i working arround this, by doing a stop/start of hobbit. Olivier Beau

Last chance to test 4.2.2 before release

I have no further bugfixes lined up for 4.2.2, so this is the last chance to do any testing before it is officially released - which I plan to do this coming week-end. Separate Hobbit server to monitor main Hobbit server

I set up a separate Hobbit server to monitor our main Hobbit server installation. It's working, but it's unclear to me how I get it to monitor all the same functionality on the main server, as it does for itself... if someone could shoot me a quick pointer, that 'd be appreciated. Would xymon survive?

I gave I high successful Xymon presentation that got me management support to have it evaluated by a larger group of people . Actually the management support was very strong ! One Sysadmin, expressed the worry that since xymon is basic a one programmer product what would happen if Henrik could no longer support it. I told them about the movement for more than one programer to support it via the Subversion archive on Sourceforge, Still if Henrik was gone would some one support it? Would Henrik company allow outsider to maintain it. Ok, in other words would xymon survive? As an aside I ran across a free product yesterday (don't remember what) that would sell a commercial license , that was basically a disclaimed for commpany that just HAD to have commercial licenses. Might not be a bad idea Henrik?

Windows Server 2008 ifstat and RRD

Hi. I have started monitoring 4 Windows Server 2008 servers with BBWin 0.11, and I have been seeing a bunch of rrd errors in the rrd log file. An example of one is below. 2008-12-12 09:22:53 RRD error updating /home/hobbit/data/rrd/ifstat.108.0.108.0.rrd: illegal attempt to update using time 1229095372 when last update time is 1229095372 (minimum one second step) Has anyone else seen this? I believe this is causing the rrd graphs to stop working about once a week. These errors only show up for the 4 Win2008 servers and none others. Thank you. Regards, Bryan

I KNOW I saw this fairly recently but cann't find it searching. A user wants to restart a process if it disappears . I don't like such automated things particular if they have to be done at the root level, but I was ask it it could be done.

COMMENT & DESCR not working properly on lastest trunk ?

Hello Henrik, I've started to play with trunk yesterday. Comparing with 4.2, i noticed that : -COMMENT are not showed on main pages, but are on bb2.html (i've tried with --tooltips=always and withtout --tooltips) -DESCR are showed on bb2.html when there is no COMMENT for the host i dont think bbgen's manual is up2date in trunk.. -> is there a way to always show COMMENT and never show DESCR ? (no problem if not; an explication on COMMENT and DESCR new behaviour will be good enough) Regards, Olivier Beau

another small bug + fix

Not really a bug, but when the log directory does not exist, the hobbit server will start without any error. A fix is easy, just create the direcory when it does not exist: In hobbitd/hobbit.sh.DIST, add the mkdir line. hobbit -> xymon migration

Hi, I have more then 20 hobbit servers and a few 100 hobbit AIX/Linux clients to migrate from hobbit to xymon. I'm not going to do this by hand as you can imagine. Anyone interested in documenting the migration process and developing a migration script ? Stef
