Hi again, I performed a grep on the server directory looking for the old IP address and found that this was hard coded in the compiled binaries. So I’ve recompiled the hobbit source using the same Makefile (In which I changed the IP address on the line “BBHOSTIP = 10.0.6.13”) After a make and a make install command my combo test is working. I’ve however another problem. I tried out the example: WebCluster.http = (Web1.http || Web2.http) AppSrvCluster.procs = (AppSrv1.conn && AppSrv1.procs) || (AppSrv2.conn && AppSrv2.procs) Customer.cluster = WebCluster.http && AppSrvCluster.procs My code is: DC.svcs = (MSCT\-DC\-01.conn || MSCT\-DC\-02.conn) DNS.svcs = (MSCT\-DC\-01.svcs || MSCT\-DC\-02.svcs) CTCS.svcs = DC.svcs && DNS.svcs DC is a connectivity check on 2 servers. (Primary and backup domain controllers) DNS is the DNS services on the same servers. On my bbhost config page I’ve configured 127.0.0.1 DC 127.0.0.1 DNS 127.0.0.1 CTCS To get my combo test being displayed. For DC and DNS the result is OK (MSCT\-DC\-01.conn||MSCT\-DC\-02.conn) = (1||1) = 1 MSCT-DC-01.conn MSCT-DC-02.conn And (MSCT\-DC\-01.svcs||MSCT\-DC\-02.svcs) = (1||1) = 1 MSCT-DC-01.svcs MSCT-DC-02.svcs For CTCS I get: DC.svcs&&DNS.svcs = -1&&-1 = 1 &unknown DC.svcs &unknown DNS.svcs Why do I get an unknown status???? I became a FAN of this monitoring server. But I still have one problem. We changed our IP range, so I had to change the IP address of the Hobbit server. (10.0.6.13) I was able to adjust all required setting. All test besides the Combotest are working fine now. Hi Henrik I have copied the ~hobbit/data files/directories of a Solaris 8 hobbitserver to a Linux RHEL4 server. The history is OK but the graphs don't show. Can you assist me? [hobbit] SunOS does not give back informations to the Hobbit Server

Have you made sure your client configuration specifies the server IP or the hobbit Master(S) and the proper port? If they are good, then networking is highly suspect - check that the port is being passed by routers and firewall settings. Firewall routes should be bidirectional. Keep in mind that any network tests specified either need it be passed on their own ports also if they are to work. (I have one server in the dmz that has ssh test, but none of the other tests for network enabled) Snoop (tcpdump if preferred) from the client side and see if you see anything coming through the interface outbound. Networking in the sun server is not a lot of magic, just get the numbers right! BTW if you traceroute to the master IP from the Sun client servers, one of the very first things it prints is the interface IP it is going across. Make sure the /etc/ files are right (hosts, nsswitch.conf, resolv.conf., hostname.<Interface>) Check all your logs ( /var/adm/messages on all, the client log [defined in the client configuration], var/log/hobbit/* on the server. Manual tests you can run: Telnet <targetIP> 1984 Traceroute -p 1984 <targetIP> Hope that helps a little = I am doing this from memory, I may have switches wrong - use your best friend to confirm - man pages! I run to 20 or so SunOS boxes (Sun and Fujitsu PrimePower hardware). I have 2 masters - one on sun,one on linux, soon to add a third as DR. (Linux is our test and development) The only issues I have had to deal with in communications is getting the routers and firewalls to pass the port to the proper servers. Devmon/Hobbit Patch

I am trying to patch my hobbit installation and stop using extra-rrd.pl and start using do_devmon.c. But when applying the patch I get these errors: patching file hobbit-4.2.0/lib/hobbitrrd.c patching file hobbit-4.2.0/lib/htmllog.c Hunk #1 FAILED at 318. Hunk #2 FAILED at 349. Hunk #3 FAILED at 366. 3 out of 3 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file hobbit-4.2.0/lib/htmllog.c.rej patching file hobbit-4.2.0/hobbitd/etcfiles/hobbitserver.cfg.DIST patching file hobbit-4.2.0/hobbitd/do_rrd.c patching file hobbit-4.2.0/web/hobbitsvc.c Can anyone assist me in getting the patch applied correctly so that I can start using do_devmon.c instead of the extra-rrd.pl script.? Hi, Using "disk1" graphs for the trends column, we noticed that file systems above 2 TB of used space did not show up. The problem comes from the hobbitd/rrd/do_disk.c. The "long long aused" variable is properly defined but the value affectation should use "atoll" (el el) function and not "atoi". To fix: replace all atoi calls for aused var by atoll, recompile and copy hobbitd_rrd were Hobbit lives.
