Hi all, Second try, Is this just not possible? :-( Thank you for all the help in the past with the questions I've had. All is working well and I have good confidence in my implementation of this tool. However since I am a convert from BigBrother (Free version) there is a difference that I hope we can find a way to emulate. The background: We have approx 60 locations sitting out in the US connecting back to HQ via commodity DSL using VPN. Naturally we have some packet loss on those connections periodically, especially when printing within Citrix or when it is busy with data going back and forth. The issue: What used to happen with BB is that when there was a skipped ping out of 3 an orange condition would trigger not red. What happens with Hobbit is that now I never get a yellow but rather get a RED and then a Green within seconds of each other instead of a yellow. Here is the "FPING" line from my server config: FPING="$BBHOME/bin/hobbitping --max-pps=10000000 --responses=5" I was had changed this "--responses=5" in hopes that it would produce the same results but it does not. And I do ping my sites every minute no matter what to test them. Overall the BBtest statistics report that I have a total of 83 host pinged and the most time it ever took for "Time Total" on the graph is approx 18 seconds and that happened once. Most times it is approx 5 seconds. Is there a set of switches or some other way to get the same behavior from Hobbit that I had with BB. Hi again, I performed a grep on the server directory looking for the old IP address and found that this was hard coded in the compiled binaries. So I’ve recompiled the hobbit source using the same Makefile (In which I changed the IP address on the line “BBHOSTIP = 10.0.6.13”) After a make and a make install command my combo test is working. I’ve however another problem. I tried out the example: WebCluster.http = (Web1.http || Web2.http) AppSrvCluster.procs = (AppSrv1.conn && AppSrv1.procs) || (AppSrv2.conn && AppSrv2.procs) Customer.cluster = WebCluster.http && AppSrvCluster.procs My code is: DC.svcs = (MSCT\-DC\-01.conn || MSCT\-DC\-02.conn) DNS.svcs = (MSCT\-DC\-01.svcs || MSCT\-DC\-02.svcs) CTCS.svcs = DC.svcs && DNS.svcs DC is a connectivity check on 2 servers. (Primary and backup domain controllers) DNS is the DNS services on the same servers. On my bbhost config page I’ve configured 127.0.0.1 DC 127.0.0.1 DNS 127.0.0.1 CTCS To get my combo test being displayed. For DC and DNS the result is OK (MSCT\-DC\-01.conn||MSCT\-DC\-02.conn) = (1||1) = 1 MSCT-DC-01.conn MSCT-DC-02.conn And (MSCT\-DC\-01.svcs||MSCT\-DC\-02.svcs) = (1||1) = 1 MSCT-DC-01.svcs MSCT-DC-02.svcs For CTCS I get: DC.svcs&&DNS.svcs = -1&&-1 = 1 &unknown DC.svcs &unknown DNS.svcs Why do I get an unknown status???? SunOS does not give back informations to the Hobbit Server

Hi, I have a problem with many Sun/Os Solaris" clients : they don't send any information to the server hobbit. So far, the client compiled OK, run and generate good log files on the client in ~hobbit/client/tmp/msg.hostX.txt I don't have any entries on the server logs nor data. I dropped the machine to force the renewal : nothing. I expected a network issue like wrong hostname or so but seems alright. I've installed the Hobbit client on machine on the same network (Linux/AIX/Windows), they ALL works, except the SunOS ones :-/ Any clue ? Thanks by advance Regards

For people who has the problem, I would like them to enable the option in bbwin.cfg file : <setting name="logreportfailure" value="true" /> Then, you should check when it comes purple if you get events like this : "BBWin failed to send the client data successfuly to the hobbit server. The error was : can't connect to host : Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted.." This error happen when we reach the maximum number of sockets available on the box. Thanks for the response. We are running BBWIN 0.9 in local mode. All columns produced by BBWIN turn purple, in time. The last time BBWIN hung on our two servers 1 reported 340 out of 1400+ messages matched, the other report 748 out of 2589 matched. I am the Unix guy in the shop. I brought hobbit on-board. Could you try to run BBWin for a week without these agents : stats.dll, msgs.dll (and filesystem.dll if you are running the central mode) to see if the behavior is the same or not ? Devmon/Hobbit Patch

I am trying to patch my hobbit installation and stop using extra-rrd.pl and start using do_devmon.c. But when applying the patch I get these errors: patching file hobbit-4.2.0/lib/hobbitrrd.c patching file hobbit-4.2.0/lib/htmllog.c Hunk #1 FAILED at 318. Hunk #2 FAILED at 349. We changed our IP range, so I had to change the IP address of the Hobbit server. (10.0.6.13) I was able to adjust all required setting. All test besides the Combotest are working fine now. rrd and do_disk.c: 32 bit limit reached

Hi, Using "disk1" graphs for the trends column, we noticed that file systems above 2 TB of used space did not show up. The problem comes from the hobbitd/rrd/do_disk.c. The "long long aused" variable is properly defined but the value affectation should use "atoll" (el el) function and not "atoi". To fix: replace all atoi calls for aused var by atoll, recompile and copy hobbitd_rrd were Hobbit lives.
