A user has asked for the following: It would be pretty awesome to have some hobbit plugins that ran sql queries against the postgresql install. Things like: select count(*) from pg_stat_activity; -- < 700 is bad select count(*), datname from pg_stat_activity group by datname; or even: select min(query_start), current_query from pg_stat_activity group by current_query; Is there some plugin that does this or could be modified a little to do this? Combined combo test example doesn't work

Hello, I tried out the example: WebCluster.http = (Web1.http || Web2.http) AppSrvCluster.procs = (AppSrv1.conn && AppSrv1.procs) || (AppSrv2.conn && AppSrv2.procs) Customer.cluster = WebCluster.http && AppSrvCluster.procs My code is: DC.svcs = (MSCT\-DC\-01.conn || MSCT\-DC\-02.conn) DNS.svcs = (MSCT\-DC\-01.svcs || MSCT\-DC\-02.svcs) CTCS.svcs = DC.svcs && DNS.svcs DC is a connectivity check on 2 servers. (Primary and backup domain controllers) DNS is the DNS services on the same servers. On my bbhost config page I've configured 127.0.0.1 DC 127.0.0.1 DNS 127.0.0.1 CTCS To get my combo test being displayed. For DC.svcs and DNS.svcs the result is OK (MSCT\-DC\-01.conn||MSCT\-DC\-02.conn) = (1||1) = 1 MSCT-DC-01.conn MSCT-DC-02.conn And (MSCT\-DC\-01.svcs||MSCT\-DC\-02.svcs) = (1||1) = 1 MSCT-DC-01.svcs MSCT-DC-02.svcs For CTCS.svcs I get: DC.svcs&&DNS.svcs = -1&&-1 = 1 &unknown DC.svcs &unknown DNS.svcs Why do I get an unknown status???? Hobbit client logfetch core dumps on 4.2.0 with all the patches

Hello, I have one hobbit client that produces a core dump every 5 minutes when logfetch is run. It is running the same version of Hobbit client (4.2.0 with all the patches, which I believe has the same logfetch.c as the latest snapshot) as another machine and both have the same OS (including same version of glibc) and the same client-local.cfg configuration on the Hobbit server. However, only one of these machines core dumps. "signing" email messages

This may sound like nit-picking, but it can be annoying. For those of you who have deployed certificates in your email clients, could you please *not* sign messages you send to this list? I have no reason to doubt who you are, nor do I have a reason to import your certificate into my store. My email client is *somewhat* braindead, and prompts me twice for each message that is signed by an unknown certificate authority. Thanks for thinking of this issue.

BBWin and LOAD question

My BBWin client is "Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition Service Pack 2 (build 3790)" and is named "relay". Hobbit-client.cfg for relay: HOST=relay.math.purdue.edu UP 30m CLOCK 5 LOAD 40 70 DISK * 90 95 PROC AGSMTPSvc.exe 1 1 SVC AGDIGESTSVC startup=automatic status=started color=red On my display server under CPU I show the following which is reporting yellow for CPU usage. Tue Apr 08 13:44:37 2008 up: 11 days, 0 users, 58 procs, load=9% yellow Load is HIGH CPU states: total 09% cpu00 6.9% cpu01 8.4% cpu02 11.6% cpu03 6.8% I assumed that since BBWin reports the load in percentage that my LOAD min and max should be a percentage number such as 40 70. Sort of off topic (gsm modems)

Hi hobbit users, We have a gsm modem hooked up to a hobbit server. It actually resides offsite in another data centre. Today, the modem locked up and I now need to travel to the site to power the thing off and on. has anybody experience with some sort of device that can do this remotely? ideally, I would love to have some sort of black box that plugs into the usb port of my linux based hobbit server. If we detect that the modem has stopped working, we can send some sort of signal to switch the power off and then back on... Any thoughts? Phil

purple status bug in 3/27/08 snapshot

We're seeing a weird bug in the 3/27/08 snapshot. When you click on the info column for a host who's status color is purple, the web browser tries to download the "bb-hostsvc.sh" script instead of executing it. This doesn't happen when the host is any other color. Anyone else seen this? Tom

Central configuration hobbitd_client and extended testing

Hi Hobbit users, Up until recently, we have been using the bigbrother client on all our hosts reporting through to hobbit (legacy configuration post migration to hobbit). This is now changing and I really like the central processing that happens with hobbitd_client. I have just been looking through the man pages and have also been scouring the mailing list but have not found what I am looking for. If I want to convert some of my existing tests (which do all the processing on the client and then send the green,yellow,red messages to hobbit) over to the way hobbitd_client seems to work with collecting just the required data and processing centrally, how do I go about doing this? What I want to achieve is a central configuration for all of the custom tests? Can the hobbit-clients.cfg file be extended for further tests or would this break the configuration? Many thanks Phil
