Hello, Is there any configuration parameter to change the behavior of the 'data flooding from n.n.n.n, closing connection' feature, or are there any existing patches available to toggle this? (running 4.2 all in one) Just want to accept a couple messages to have a look for debugging and then reset to enable this important feature. I am aware there are a couple of other ways to debug, just curious about this avenue. Regards,

stange graph errors - please help

Hi All, I'm hoping this is a trivial problem. I've installed hobbit 4.2.0 on a box I built using the latest debian etch distro. All my clients are running Solaris 8 -> 10 and getting all of them to communicate with the hobbit server was pretty smooth. However, I'm experiencing some strange graph behavior. Basically, I don't see any graphs generated whenever I click on a client's memory or disk column. All I see is a little a magnifying glass(or zoom) icon which takes me to a blank page. The cpu and trends columns always give me the right graph info though. What's really weird is that whenever I install a brand new client I'm able to initially see graph data for every field. After 24 hours elapses, the memory and disk fields start drawing blanks. I don't see any errors in the apache logs and I've rebuilt the server a few times. Has anyone ever encountered this type of behavior before? Hobbit Status and Data Question

Hi All, I am hoping someone can help with this or provide a link to an explanation, as I haven't been able to find the information in the archives or how-to's. I have a server that I am monitoring Citrix licensing usage on. Currently I am using a VBScript for this purpose that figures out the usage and then emails me of >90% used and >95% used. It uses the telnet and WshShell.SendKeys method to do this. Key Item: The business doesn't want the BBWin agent on this server. I want to be able to send the 'status' and 'data' to Hobbit and have hobbit: alert on it, and graph it. Can I do something as simple as a telnet session to the Hobbit server on 1984/tcp and send the info? What is the syntax for that and what commands does it accept (i.e. to close the session)? Thanks all for any help.

Hey Guys, I want to send a copy of all incoming messages from my production hobbit server to a development snapshot server I setup for testing. If I disable hobbitd and enable bbproxy, will my production continue to function as is or will only forward incoming messages? Thanks!

Increasing the maximum size of data a client can send

Hi all, One of my clients is sending extremely large client packets. Specifically it has hundreds of LDAP connections and these are reported in the [ports] section, however I am not getting all of the data and the hobbitd process is reporting the following warning: Latest errormessages: Oversize status msg from 10.44.85.244 for dir0.lon.oss.colt.net:ports truncated (n=273337, limit=262144) Digging through the code I can find some references to an environment variable called "MAXMSG_CLIENT" which brings up two questions: 1. Can I set this so that I can allow for a larger client message? 2. Has anyone had any thoughts on this? It is really the only thing lacking in our Windows monitoring environment. Simply re-introducing the optional hostname directive in bbwin and running two instances on each host seems like it would work. Bbwin would first check the .cfg, then the registry, then default to the machine hostname. I had an idea to monitor clusters, and was wondering about the feasibility: Re-add the HOSTNAME configuration entry into the bbwin.cfg file, and run two instances of bbwin.exe on the client. One would be the default (reading the hostname from the machine), and the other would be manually configured in the .cfg to the cluster name. This is currently not possible because the hostname can only be overridden in the registry, where both bbwin instances reference. I don't have a development environment set up to test this myself, but in theory it should work. It is a manual action which is not a good idea I know but there are no other alternatives for that. However, you can try to remove the specific F rule and change the default rules in % to be sure you will always have 50g left on your F: drive so you won't get alerts on the second node because the F: drive is missing. Ive been try to get this to work. Actually it work on another hobbit server. So I took the source from this server and copied to the non working one and rebuilt. STILL not working. So I tried upgrading libraries; STILL not working. I come to the conclusion that some files are not updated correctly when you installed to a old installation you would like to update. I can't see it being corrupted data. Also another thing that works on one system and not the other is my nvc graphs don't appear in only trends. Where you doing a fresh install?
