[hobbit] Garbled http test.

What is the destination web site intended to look like? Is it all just plain HTML, is it replying with some fancy HTTP Headers, or maybe launching a Java app? My suggestion would be to install FireBug under Firefox (http://getfirebug.com) if you don't have it already, and analyze the HTTP Request/Reply and headers that come back from that URL. Also, is there anything in your Xymon logs or syslog/messages on the Xymon server? Might be some clue there as to what's going on ... Good luck, Matt. hobbit/xymon delete column the 100th ;-)

Hello Henrik, I've a really trivial question and I hope so you can help me. I've send columns in UPERCASE by mistake. Then I delete all this columns with .bb IP "drop HOST TEST". All data was deleted on the hobbit/xymon-Server , also in ./hist and ./histlogs and so on. Now I would like send the columns at lowercase. I do this, however on the display I can see again the columns in UPERCASE. What can I do? Regards Uwe

The bb4.com one however isn't all that bad, take page 8 for example, that gives me lots of info that may be very useful (page faults/second, cache hits/second), I can't find that stuff on my hobbit server atm (and certainly not in such a orderly fashion on only one page). It's the core functionality I really care about. As long as the GUI isn't stopping me from doing usefull stuff (for example, not allowing me to edit config files manually anymore or adding custom scripts), I don't see the problem. That said, I am however happy to stick with xymon. If bb4 has a nice feature, just nick the idea and do it the xymon way!:) -Marijn

Critical Systems - Setup

I am running Xymon-4.3.0-0.beta2 on CentOS 5.3. When I login to Administration à Edit Critical Systems and enter the following values: HOST: Linksys-118 TEST: conn I fill in 'Resolver group:' and 'Instructions:' Then click 'Update record' button On my old system the line 'Last update by:' is updated. On my new system, nothing changes and no entry is created when you search for it. Do I have permissions incorrect on some file? Where are these entries stored? Reprocessing all data

Hi, This is a newbie question but how do I go about reprocessing all data? As I understand if xymon is monitor syslog, entries will gradually fade away in the monitor. That makes me believe there is an internal clock in xymon telling it to check all data since last check date. I tried to rename "data" directories erasing previous histories but that just give me a error. Can I set that internal clock to NULL or some date? I can also reprocess all data by blowing away and re-installing xymon. - David

Alerting on UP / DOWN

I am running Xymon-4.3.0-0.beta2 on CentOS 5.3. When I create a bash shell script to be used from the hobbit-alerts.cfg file, I only receive one alert for going DOWN and one for RECOVERY. Is this by design? Do you only get multiple alerts for down if you request them? REPEAT=30m I have monitor2 watching monitor1 and if connectivity fails, it assumes the responsibilities of monitor1 until monitor1 is available. The script watches for events DOWN (1st time) and RECOVER to move the appropriate files for alerting. I have both systems monitoring but only one alerting. The files are kept current by using RSYNC between the two systems. This also creates a backup of each system on the opposite system for a re-build. The seconds question is then, if I want to have an escalation to the next level up, do I have to use the same HOST entry or do I create a separate one?
