Hi, Is there a way to issue a command to put a list of servers into maint mode instead of having to select them from the GUI? bb-snapshot - apache error 500...

Hi! I've got a problem with apache2 giving me a 500 error when I try to run a snapshot report... I'm running on a Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit platform and XYmon 4.3.0 svn rev. 6177... The errorl in the web-browser is: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster at localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. centralized configuration - external scripts

Hi guys, just like we use the file hobbit-clients.cfg to manage DISK, CPU, PROCS etc. for each client, we would like to have a centralized configuration for the external scripts. So far I tested two things: 1) Server-side check: bb-hosts entry (for the external scripts), additional code entry in the external scripts (for bbhostgrep), etc. Problem: this seems to work only with "Network checks" which will be done from Server-side to check the clients, like advanced ftp/ping/ssh script etc. It doesnt work for scripts, wich have to run on the clients, like mysql checks. 2) ONHOST: the entry ONHOST in the hobbitlaunch.cfg. Problem: this is not working for me... i tought with this entry Hobbit would be able to issue an order to the client and then execute the command in the client, but when looking into the logfiles, i see that Hobbit have to find the external script on the Hobbit-Server (i think its the same result as in Problem 1). I tought it would work as a "bb-bbextab"... but the MAN Pages says it has to be configured on the server.... So guys, do i have another way to manage this external scripts (which have to be run on the clients) in the Hobbit-Server? TIA, Cayo

How can i check or query the values from a other column in a script? "Main View" Help Needed

I currently have 7 sites which I intend to monitor using xymon. I've already configured each site using "page site1group Site1", each including several "group-compress" statements that break down the site for additional items like "Windows Servers", "XP Desktops", "Windows-7 Desktops", "Netgear", "Linux Servers", etc. So far, it looks and works beautifully. What I'd like to do now is to create a separating break followed by additional "pages" labeled "Windows Servers", "XP Desktops", "Windows-7 Desktops", "Netgear", "Linux Servers", etc. The difference between what is contained in the "page" under "XP Desktops" on my "Main View" and Site1's "XP Desktops" are that the one under "Main View" would contain ALL of the firms "XP Desktops" and Site1 would contain only those. My question is, how do I create the separator, and how do I make the pages, grouped by function as I've stated? I know that I can just keep creating more pages, but I wish to have them separate and with a different title as well. Thanks, .vp

Hi All, I have IOSTAT working on AIX (!), with only a minor issue. I'm graphing by VG aggregate data. I have the iostat-vg.rrd files for all of the volume groups. My test server graphs reads and writes, 4 VG to a graph. However, I'm left with 4 empty graph slots at the bottom. All VG's are accounted for. Any idea what might cause this problem? Hello, well you could do a ALLCLIENTS=`$HOBBITSERVERHOME/bin/bb 127.0.0.1 "hobbitdboard"|awk -F\| '{print $1}'|sort -u|wc -l` to get all clients that actually report to your server. As second step do a INSTCLIENTS=`$HOBBITSERVERHOME/bin/bb 127.0.0.1 "hobbitdboard test=cpu"|awk -F\| '{print $1}'|sort -u|wc -l` to get all clients that have client installed monitoring. I assume if a client is installed then it also reports a cpu status. Finally do CLIENTLESS=$((ALLCLIENTS-INSTCLIENTS)). However, clients polled via SNMP are also show the cpu status but have no client installed. But I hope to have helped you a bit. Cheers Torsten Hi, Is there better way of reporting this? Purpose: to report how many active client and client-less monitoring are done by hobbit. My method: 1. for client installed monitoring, count the number of /home/hobbit/data/rrd/*/vmstat.rrd that are recent (ie. newer than a date file created earlier, say 5am) 2. for client-less monitoring, count the number of latest /home/hobbit/data/histlogs/*/conn/ or /home/hobbit/data/histlogs/*/http/ (if both exist, then count only one) that are recent (see def. above). Compile Issue with latest SVN version of 4.3.0

Hey People, I have downloaded the latest SVN tarball and am having issues compiling xymon. BBWin Central vs Local Configuration

Hi, Does anyone know why the information displayed on Xymon is so different depending on whether you set BBWin to use centralised or local configuration? For example, services in central mode list all available services, whereas in local mode it only shows the ones you want to monitor - centralised mode also doesn't allow spaces in the service name. In centralised mode, it seems to be hit or miss whether it reports on events in the system log (some clients work, some don't), whereas in local mode it works fine. I think we may be sticking with local mode and finding a way to deploy configuration files for now.
