Monitored tests not dropping

I'm setting up xymon 4.2.2 on a redhat ES5 platform. I was using BB and brought over most of my configuration without much problem. I am having an issue with the web page updating that I can seem to figure out. I have had some tests that have gone purple for windows when I updated bbwin from .11 to .12. It looks like netstat is no longer being provided and the data is a bit more like my other linux clients. So all I need to do is to get rid of the netstat status. Originally this status was purple and I blued it out until it changed green. After working on other issues I have come back to this issue. I have tried several things without success. ~/server/bin/bb localhost "drop server,mydomain,com netstat" The blue status does't change... Curiously under enable/disable or the info tab it doesn't show up as being blued out. I even tried blueing it here and unblueing it and it stays blue... I did "find ~/data -name "*netstat*" -ls" and the data in the hist directory for that server is now gone after the drop command. There is still data in histlogs but I think that is ok. I also did ~/server/bin/bb localhost hobbitdboard |grep server and the test and status blue are shown on this status. I've tried some other things as well. I've tried restarting hobbit. No effect. I've tried removing the server from bb-hosts and then droping the entire server and waiting for the page to update with the service gone then adding the server back. Sometimes this works but not always. The drop command always seems to remove data from the hist directory. I also have a hobbitd-client test on the main hobbit server status that is purple and I found a couple core files in ~/server/tmp. I think this happened when I was working on setting up central management of my servers and making various changes to the hobbit-clients.cfg file. Again I tried using the drop server hobbitd-client command without luck. So I guess I'm trying to figure out where hobbitd is saving the status and how to remove it. I guess I could shut hobbit down and remove all traces of this server in all the data directories but was hoping there was a better way... thanks John

Help with Hobbit/Xymon (v4.2.2) setup

I'm new to Hobbit/Xymon and I've run into something that should be obvious, but I'm missing it. Any help appreciated. I've setup Hobbit on the server and on a couple of clients. As far as I've gone, everything seems to be working *except* "bbd" on the clients come up as Red. In debugging it, I think that the Xymon server is getting a "Connection refused" from the clients when it tries to connect to the bbd port (1984) to run the bbd test. Although I see hobbitlaunch running on the clients, I don't see anything running on the client that would specifically listen to port 1984 -- is that done by the hobbitlaunch program? How can I debug this to determine what the problem is? David Masterson

Help with one graph, multiple files

Hello All, I am just trying to figure out what I have missed in my setup. I have 2 files (at present) DBxtest.rrd and DBytest.rrd. These both contain entries for conn at the same index (0). What I am trying to do is get them to show up in one graph with xtest and ytest showing as 2 different lines. I have copied the disk definition in hobbitgraph.cfg and created the following definition. [postgres] FNPATTERN DB(.*).rrd TITLE DB Connections YAXIS # connections DEF:p at RRDIDX@=@RRDFN@:conn:AVERAGE LINE2:p at RRDIDX@#@COLOR@:@RRDPARAM@ GPRINT:p at RRDIDX@:LAST: \: %5.1lf (cur) GPRINT:p at RRDIDX@:MAX: \: %5.1lf (max) GPRINT:p at RRDIDX@:MIN: \: %5.1lf (min) GPRINT:p at RRDIDX@:AVERAGE: \: %5.1lf (avg)\n This gives me a graph with one line from the first file it picks up (xtest), the other (ytest) I can't seem to get to show. To see if it is a file or data related prob, I removed the xtest rrd file, and then I am able to see the ytest that previously did not show. Is it possible to get both conn entries from the 2 different files to show on the one graph ? I am currently running version 4.2.0 with all the patches .. 4.2.2 client not functioning but server client is

We seem to have an issue where the 4.2.2 client is not functioning correctly - i.e. it won't pass through client side checks such as proc. So we ripped the client out of the server install, and deployed it. It works fine, and the standalone client executable md5sums different from the server client install. conn,files,ports and procs columns have status as clear..help

Hi, i am using xymon 4.2.2.RC1 for linux.In all clients and server also i get status of conn,files,ports and procs columns status as clear always.is there any erro?How to make these colums show correct stastus? Details : conn - Hobbit system error(clear) Files- No files checked(clear) Ports-No port checks defined(clear) Procs-No process checks defined(clear) also Execution of 'hobbitping -Ae' failed - program not suid root? is shown in bbtest columcn of serevr(red) For getting complete status of client, is it sufficient to just copy client folder to another client and run runclient.sh ?will it give me complete status of client including extrenal tests configured for client kindly help -- Pankaj V. Hi, Before i use hobbit 4.2.1 that is a package for debian apt-get I just installed xymon release 4.2.2 on debian etch. After, a long way compiled and many library installed But, i don't that is a bug or not, because, all my host become purple after may be 30mn. Please could you help me? Many thanks, SKEM

client doesn't send reports to server

hi, yesterday everything was good, but now the server doesn't get any reports from the client. when i checked "clientlaunch.log" (on the client) i found that the files "hobbitclient-include.cfg" and "bbdisp-runtime.cfg" aare missing. i also didn't find the variable BBDISP in the "hobbitclient.cfg". i really don't know what to do now... thanks :-)

http network test

I've got a few instances of a.b.c.d www.server.com # http://www.server.com/ and the http column shows up just fine, including the time the test took and a nice graph. The question I was just asked is, is it possible to specify "max response time", so that if the time shown is greater than N seconds I get a red flag?? I don't see a way to set that in the man pages for either bb-hosts or hobbit-client.cfg. Thanks, Ralph Mitchell

MTIME - File Monitoring

Hi, I am trying to monitor files which should NOT be modified. If have the MTIME parameter setup as follows: FILE /etc/passwd TYPE=file OWNER=0 GROUP=0 MODE=644 MTIME>86400 red This basically means that if the file is modified within the last 24 hours, it should go red... It never goes to any other status other than green. I also have the /etc/passwd entry in the clients-local.cfg file as well\ Any Ideas?
