PROC test question

Hi all, I am a hobbit newby. I have a question about the PROC test: is there a way to define a test about the presence of a particular proc executed by a particular user? I'm in a situation where I have some daemons that could be started by a lot of (machine)users and so I would like to check the user the proc run as. Thanks in advance Marco

I compiled the client on another server, then merely unzipped it on ESX, and adjusted the startup script. The problem with no SMS notification was a slow email server. So, SMS works fine. However, the message is way to short. For example, if it is alerting on a disk threshold, then all I get on the SMS is the server name, and the test name that is failing. I don't actually get the partition (filesystem) that exceeded the threshold. If I use PLAIN or just leave it at default, I get to much information and it overruns the poor little cell phone. Does anyone have any suggestions? Hi all, I¹m looking for a mac client for Hobbit / bb. I searched google, and I see there is a mac client by ³Japheth Cleaver² Which you can download here: http://www-rohan.sdsu.edu/~cleaver/software/ BUT, this client needs extra software. This software: Unix Date and NetEvents, points to locations that don¹t exist anymore. Can anyone point to these utilities that I can download them, or point me to another mac client?? hi, SNMP is the protocol used by monitoring systems to get data from clients... does hobbit use SNMP or there is an other protocol?! thanks :-)

I've added the perl script example that Henrik provided late January to the tutorials page on The Shire. http://www.trantor.org/theshire/doku.php/tutorials:ssmodule Hopefully, Henrik won't mind. (I may be "borrowing" some of Henrik's content for the other tutorials yet to be written...of course, if someone would like to volunteer the tutorials I'd be happy to consider them for addition). If you have other ideas about tutorials or FAQs, please let me know. I'm trying to make more time for the site (interestingly, I showed a manager from one of our other groups Hobbit in passing one day...he just happened to have been looking for an easy to setup/configure monitoring solution...he's been singing the praises of Hobbit since) =G=

apt plugin from debians hobbit-plugins package

Hey all, The apt plugin, which checks if apt-get update is run regularly, doesn't seem to work since I've upgraded to Debian Lenny. The file /var/lib/apt/lists/lock doesn't get updated anymore and that's one of the three files it checks for the timestamp. after 1.5 days, it turns yellow, no matter how often I run apt-get update. Anyone with that same experience? I have this on multiple machines. Wouter
