corrupted ps output report?

I just noticed a PROCS report go red and then green on one of the servers I monitor. Since the server is an LDAP server, one of the proc tests we monitor for is simply: PROC /usr/lib/openldap/slapd The procs report page showed: (red) /usr/lib/openldap/slapd (found 0, req. 1 or more) The ps output below it it looks to be corrupted partway through. The format and line wrapping clearly does not look correct. I attached an image rather than pasting here since it would surely add additional wrapping, confusing matters even more. I guess I am wondering if anyone has seen such a thing and what might have caused it, and obviously how to address it. Thanks -- Bill Arlofski Reverse Polarity, LLC

CPU load average not being graphed for some servers

Hi all, I'm having trouble tracking this one down. For many of my Xymon-monitored servers I can see the graphs on the CPU load page and they have data in them. Yet for many others the CPU graphs are empty. I can see the graphs but there is no data. Investigation reveals that for those servers who are missing data the .cpu file has not been updated in months, yet when I look at the client data available it shows the load average in the uptime section, as in: [uptime] 5:07pm 2 users, load average: 0.53, 0.71, 0.62 which is, I believe, where Xymon gets the LA from. The file ownership and permissions on the data/hist/*.cpu files are all correct (hobbit:hobbit and 644 on this system), in fact the only thing I noticed that doesn't make sense is that the data/hostdata/ directories are not being updated for those servers that do not have the CPU graphs, even though I can see the host data in the Xymon web pages. Confused? alert for several procs conditions

Hi ! Is it possible ( i think not, but i'm asking too :-)) to combine Alerts for several proc-conditions or is there an external-test for it : I want to monitor 4 processes yellow alert for no found process of sge_execd load_sensor red alert if additional no process of sge_shepherd sge_coshepher are found ... thnaks & cheers, Martin

Possible to sum rrd into one graph ?

Hello, In Munin, its possible to sum several rrd into one graph (ie : to display the total bandwidth used by all your media servers). Thus, I'm asking if it's possible to do this in XYmon too ? I saw the < Metrics reports > but you can't sum graphs... Regards, Thomas SEGLARD

In my bb-hosts file (developed long ago), I had the same machine on several pages page comp Computer-Room 10.1.1.1 bigiron 10.1.1.2 tiny page data Database-Server 10.1.1.1 bigiron # noping page dns Dns-Servers 10.1.1.2 tiny # noping xymon complains about duplicate entries, and gets confused about updateing the RRD's. I am having trouble trying to figure out how to make this configuration work correctly. Thanks Jim

Hi, we have xymon 4.2.2; now we want it to enhance its feature for mrtg/devmon configuration..for which ttol we should go? we want to monitor traffic in infiniband swithes and gigabit ethernat switches.
