Question: Which Xymon project administration options you like ?

Hi, All To share the project admin load, we need to decide what options we should go with. A. Two project admins Henrik + one from us B. Three project admins Henrik + two from us C. Five project admins Henrik + 4 from us. I think this most important questions need to be answered. With this question answered, we can then proceed to other project todos. So what is your answer ? PS: Assuming Henrik want to be part of project admin. PS2: Assuming Henrik doesn't mind options B and C. tj -- T.J. Yang

"virtual hosts" for combined graphs?

I created a small script that scrapes info from several hosts/rrd's (connections to a particular IIS site) and puts it in a combined graph (see attached sample). I'm curious if it's possible to somehow create a "virtual host" in hobbit and use the hobbitgraph.cgi functions to create the graphs so I can also have the zoom & history functions. I know a lot of people seem to be using checked out svn versions, but it would be nice if we could get another tarball release as well, consider that the last one was quite a while ago. I've noticed that the demo/prod site at http://www.hswn.dk/hobbit/ already self-identifies as Xymon 4.3.0-1.3; I'm a little curious what the larger changes from 4.3.0-beta2 have been... Regards, -jc

An invite for a test drive of Xymon on Google host

Hi, all Once we have new project administrator(s), I like to propose we switch to Google host for the Xymon project. There are a few features I think Google host will help. 1. Less ad workspace compare to sourceforge.net 2. Projects can have 3 levels of privilege. 2.1 project owners 2.2 project committers 2.3 project contributors. 3. It support SVN or Mercurial. 4. It can hookup to Google groups(users,developer and code-commit) 5. source commit and comment can trigger an email to google groups. 6. Built-in Wiki and issue tracker. 7. It is fast. 8. it has web-hook to trigger C.I. software like buildbot or Hudson. Image your xymon build machine at home will start building new version of xymon when developer commit a new change ! if you are interested to test out xymon on google host,please let me know. Hi All Ok before all our responses get lost in the mail I have composed a list of people that volunteered so far. Please add your name if you not on here. 1) TJ Yang 2) Neil Franken 3) Buchan Milne (via Developers List) 4) Lennon, Padraig I think TJ Yang will probably be co admin unless we want more than 1 co-admin. With all due respect to all we will need to finalise this so we can get some rubber on the road. So I suggest that we close the list of by Monday next week? Once this list in finalized we can then break up the remaining work and get down to brass tacks. Regards Neil PS. I will post this on the Developers list as well.

Within Xymon, Is there a way to monitor or alert DNS host records that aren't consistent between Forward & Reverse Zones? Example, a retired server that wasn't properly deleted from DNS's forward or reverse zones.. Joshua C. Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/hobbit/client/ext/check_dell-warranty.py", line 164, in ? serial_number = extract_serial_number() File "/usr/lib/hobbit/client/ext/check_dell-warranty.py", line 78, in extract_serial_number sys.exit(WARNING) NameError: global name 'WARNING' is not defined .. and the test becomes purple one day after .. alert for different partitions

Is it possible to configure alerting for different partitions/disks on a fileserver to/for different group-admins ? e.g. On my fileserver there are luns for different groups /dev/mapper/ddn_lun1 7811405140 7301180228 119533280 99% /ost/hh_A_0 /dev/mapper/ddn_lun2 7811405140 7359390896 61322612 100% /ost/hh_B_0 /dev/mapper/ddn_lun3 7811405140 7360586140 60127368 100% /ost/hh_B_2 /dev/mapper/ddn_lun4 7811405140 6983365056 437348452 95% /ost/hh_C_0 So, i want to inform the group-admins of B that their space is empty dev/mapper/ddn_lun2 7811405140 7359390896 61322612 100% /ost/hh_B_0 /dev/mapper/ddn_lun3 7811405140 7360586140 60127368 100% /ost/hh_B_2 but don't want to bother the other group-admins of A and C ... thanks in advance & cheers, martin
