We use bb-iostat.sh to monitor some performance stats but I think it may be way outdated and not very accurate for multiple cpu, SAN disk attached Solaris machines. Does anyone have any opinions or a better tool to monitor iostat, swapping etc? I am fairly ignorant about performance measurements and tuning btw except for the basics. ~David

Change response time setting for URL monitoring in Hobbit

Hi I a monitoring a URL based on HTTP protocol. The default response time setting seems to be 10 secs. I would like to change it to a higher number. Can anyone of you know please let me know how to change this setting? Thanks -- SA

Hi guys I am not sure what i'm doing wrong here, but i'm not getting full functionality out of dbcheck.pl and graphs. Holes in xymon graphs

I have a problem with holes in xymon graphs (see attached pdf): The values for load, processes, users stopped showing up at 4.30 this morning. All other values disc, memory, cpu load, network are shown. The client is sending its data to 2 xymon servers, both show the same behaviour. Restarting the client makes no difference? Any tipps?

dns-timeouts problem when 1 dns-server down - bbtest-net not running in parralel?

Hi, I'm trying to figure out why Xymon adds alot of time to dns-tests when 1 of our test-DNS-servers are down. From taking 1 second to run it goes to a whopping 450 seconds. It seems theres a 30-second delay (bbtest-net dns-timeout standard) - but its repeated multiple times in serial - and bbtest-net waits and waits (12 times x 30 seconds) - for a total of 450 seconds to complete 455 resolved hostnames. So it doesn't affect all the other dns-lookups? I've tweaked my setup with "-dns-timeout=3" and put "options timeout:1" in resolv.conf - which reduces the time to 45 seconds - but if we had 5000 servers in Xymon, we'd still be facing a major problem. Maybe its different in 4.3.3? Im running a weird 4.4.0-beta, and upgrading in the near future. Regards, Carl Melgaard

We use this feature a lot and don't have a problem seeing the graphs. If you remove the NAME entry, does it work? Does the problem only happen when the NAME thing is at the end of the line?

Hi team, I need to customize the email body and pattern for the alerts receiving from xymon. I believe I have found a bug when you generate trending graphs for custom periods. It seems that the display name is used in the command rather than the "true" name. For instance, if you have a hosts.cfg entry like this: 1.2.3.4 fully.qualified.domain.name # yadda yadda yadda NAME:display_name The trends page uses "display_name" when you ask it to generate custom length graphs. You can hack the URL and replace the display name with the real name (fully.qualified.display.name above) and everything works fine. Thanks, Larry Barber
