Setting Xymon up for redundancy/HA

Hi, Im curious how you guys have achieved to setup Xymon for HA/redundancy - so that you can do maintenance etc. on 1 Xymon server, and still keep monitoring hosts with the other. I've looked at the different approaches in the "Administration Guide", but they all have pros and cons and some are rather complex. The goals I have: Being able to keep monitoring with 1 xymon server down - have all data etc. sync'ed between the 2 xymon servers, so I don't miss out on historic data - don't get double notifications/alerts - easy administration. We currently have 4 data centres, spread around on different locations - one possibility would be to have 1 xymon server in each data centre, with the local hosts reporting in to that server, but how do I keep on monitoring those hosts, if the local xymon server crashes? Limitations for CLASS in analysis.cfg?

Hi. Can CLASS be used for all tests in analysis.cfg? I configured some hosts to two different classes using hosts.cfg, and then tried to use these for definitions in analysis.cfg like this: CLASS=class2 PROC apache2 PROC ntpd PROC snmpd CLASS=class1 PROC apache2 PROC mysqld PROC ntpd PROC snmpd FILE %/backup/latest/.* yellow mtime<90200 DIR /backup/latest yellow size>1 TRACK The problem is that only the files test appear on the hosts. Procs report "No process checks defined". So it looks like the CLASS defintions are working, but the PROCS lines are ignored for some reason. We are running Xymon 4.3.3 /Johan

Change response time setting for URL monitoring in Hobbit

Hi I a monitoring a URL based on HTTP protocol. The default response time setting seems to be 10 secs. I would like to change it to a higher number. Can anyone of you know please let me know how to change this setting? Thanks -- Sridhar

lib-xymonrrd.c problem..

Hi! This is my first post here... I am just trying to make some small changes to our xymon system, and I am having some weird issues... we are using the 4.3.0 branch, and the issues i am running into, are with the devmon if_load pages. The thing that I am doing, is in this page there is the table at the top, and a bunch of graphs on the bottom (i didn't set this up, and i am assuming that this is the "default"). I am trying to create a link from the table, that will open the corresponding graph url (as if i had scrolled down to the graph and click on it). I had it sort of working with some creative javascripting, but after looking into it, it wasn't 100%. the "table" is not sorted at all, but the "graphs" section is sorted based on the rrd name. is there anyway (i am sure that there is) to put the same value from the transforms file {ifLoad} into the ./lib/xymonrrd.c file? does that make sense? doesn't have to be that {ifLoad} perse, but something that i can make match from teh table to the graphs... i was thinking in this area, to add the 'id=\"ifload_%s\"': static const char *xymonlinkfmt = "<table summary=\"%s Graph \"><tr><td><A HREF=\"%s&action=menu\" id=\"ifload_%s\"><IMG BORDER=0 SRC=\"%s&graph=hourly&action=view\" ALT=\"xymongraph %s \"></A></td><td>..... Experience: Monitoring Oracle via Xymon?

Hi Sonal, OK, connection refused. I'm not very familiar with the oracle listener but clearly that is wrong. I see that you say the listening port is 1527 - normally that is 1521. Are you sure your number is correct? Weird value in devmon graph

hello during two days this week end we got very huge value in all my devmon graph. See the attachement. Since this morning no more issue. any idee ? Perhaps we can add a max value at the rrd creation ? oau

Hi team, I have recently configured xymon and need a suggestion on setting up alert for oratns. Xymon ping bug

Hello, I added this line to hobbit config by accident (a 'vim' accident ;-): 10.12.30.2929292929292929292929292929292929292929292929292929292929 metroli-be7 # And all network test become purple. It seems than xymonping stop working with bad formatted IPs: /usr/lib/xymon/server/bin/xymonping --debug --timeout=4 10.0.0.258 ¿Anybody know how to fix it? Thanks,
