Hi, I'm migrating to redhat Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.1 (Santiago) (64). The query is done correctly (tablespace) but the values continues to fetch until it finds an empty table. monitoring aggregated network traffic

Hi, thanks for your very helpful answer. It took me a few days to get back to that issue, so sorry for that late responose. I've added additional lines for outgoing, and it works as expected. I'm absolutely fine with hardcoed interfaces, cause I need the aggregated view of particular interfaces. So if you have 4 RRD files, one for each interface, you can have RRDtool do the math for you like this: [ifsum] TITLE Network Traffic YAXIS Bits/second DEF:inbytes0=ifstat.eth0.rrd:bytesReceived:AVERAGE DEF:inbytes1=ifstat.eth1.rrd:bytesReceived:AVERAGE DEF:inbytes2=ifstat.eth2.rrd:bytesReceived:AVERAGE DEF:inbytes3=ifstat.eth3.rrd:bytesReceived:AVERAGE CDEF:intotal=inbytes0,inbytes1,inbytes2,inbytes3,+,+,+ CDEF:inbits=intotal,8,* LINE:inbits#FF0000:Aggregate inbound The "LINE" definition then uses the "inbits" value to draw a (red) line with this data. Have a look at graphs.cfg, and I'm sure you can figure out to add a line for the outgoing data also. Add "ifsum" to the GRAPHS setting in xymonserver.cfg, and the graph should show up on the "trends" page. network hiccups causing false positives to be sent

So our crappy server host (1and1) seems to be getting random network spikes causing false alert emails to be sent out with Critical notifications. I understand I can set alerts.cfg to only alert after a certain duration of red but we need notifications to be sent right away in case of production downtime. Is there an option where I can have XYMON ping a certain host, and if that host is unreachable to ignore any other alerts? eg. I can run a ping on yahoo.com and example.com , if either of those as any connection issues, to ignore all other alerts for the time being? tia.

Yellow->red escalation, bug or feature?

I think this is a bug, but maybe it's a feature I haven't figured out yet: Many of our alerts are set to email on yellow and page with escalation on red: alert1 after 10 minutes (repeat every 10), alert2 after 20 minutes , alert3 after 40 minutes, alert4 after an hour. When an alert is yellow, it sometimes sits around for a while. When an alert goes red, the alert1 person acks or fixes the alert and the alert4 person should never be woken up. However, when an alert has been yellow for over an hour and *then* turns red, we are seeing that the entire escalation group is paged, as though the alert has been red for over an hour. I think this is a bug - when the alert first goes red it should be treated as a NEW alert and not go waking up everyone. Thoughts? Am I missing something? Our tier4 person is getting rather annoyed at being woken up for things that the tier1 person can handle. thanks Betsy

File Monitor in Central Mode on WinXP

Folks, I am using the filemonitor in bbwin in central mode. It finds the file if it is there but the NOEXIST does not work. I have the following in client-local: [nas] file:c:/publicdata/logs/shouldnotbehere.txt and I have the following in hobbit-clients: HOST=nas FILE "C:/Publicdata/Logs/shouldnotbehere.txt" NOEXIST color=red If the file exists it reports the file but nothing else. Hi, How do you go about getting a summary report of clients that a Hobbit server is monitoring and being reported. For example, 1. how many full clients are there (or how many is a hobbit server receiving data)? 2. how many client-less clients are there (no clients, only pings)? TS - Is there a DB frontend for Xymon maintenance?

Team, Has anyone created a Database (MySQL) front-end to handle the HOSTS and ALERTS information? Thus, when finished, you extract all of the data from the tables in the DB and re-create the HOSTS and/or ALERTS files. And then you restart Xymon? I have a need for multiple Admins to do ADD, CHANGE, DELETE requests to the system but they cannot work on the files at the same time. I have had to create a LOCK and UNLOCK (exclusive) while someone is working on the files. The NOTES files are individual files and are no problem as you probably would not be working on someone else's NOTES files. how to add a specific http timeout

Hi Currently, xymonnet is running with a global timeout of 20 seconds (--timeout=20). For a particular device, i need to increase the HTTP timeout (120 seconds.. sic). I did't find anything regarding this kind of feature. only a old mail of 2006 saying it's not possible. (http://lists.xymon.com/archive/2006-August/009042.html) Is it still not possible to override this timeout individually ? Cheers Nico
