Hi. By default, the msgs test checks 30 minutes log history. Is it possible to override this for a specific host? /Johan

On our AIX servers we have NOPROPYELLOW:disk in the hosts.cfg however we have now realised that for 1 particular filesystem we do want the yellow to propagate. Is there any way to do this? Problem with "xymon download filename" in 4.3.5

Hello, I try to get a configuration for an external with the download option. The File is located in Servers Download folder. First download works fine. But when I edit the File and change something I get the old Version on download. Looks like a cached File. When I restart Xymon services on the Server I'll get the correct file. Is it a Bug or a Feature or is there any Configswitch to disable the cache? IP address in bb-host file

Please comment on pros/cons to using 0.0.0.0 for "all" hosts vs. the actual IP address in the bb-hosts file? --- Background info: I see I can use 0.0.0.0 for an IP and Xymon will lookup the IP address. As an IP changes, which happens infrequently, I am hoping to only need to change DNS, not also remember to change the bb-hosts file (others will be doing various network work and could forget.) 90% of hosts are PCs or printers. Servers and network equipment are the remaining 10%. I have done very little with Xymon since installed. Running basic "conn" tests to all hosts. My servers (2 unix, 2 windows) are monitoring mail, dns, ftp, etc. I do not have advanced stats running besides what comes "out of the box". No bbwin client running. Yes, I would like to get to those, but have other fish to fry at the moment. I am currently trying to get pre-reqs required to compile the current version of Xymon. The question comes up because I changed the IP of a router and changed it in bb-hosts, but not DNS yet. I thought something was incorrect until I realized it was using DNS to lookup the IP. So, if it uses DNS for network tests why not use it for all testing? Granted, if DNS fails, then all testing fails. But, if DNS fails, I have a major issue and not worried about the monitoring at that point. Thanks, Mike

xymon rrd value different from reported value

Hi all, I'm having a weird problem for which I can't seem to hunt down a cause/solution. I have a custom script that's using SPLITNCV to store data, but the data stored in the rrd files are different from those reported by the script. Below you'll notice that at 10:48:34 customer_info is reported at 1, but in the rrd file it's showing 10:50:00 and 8.8008800880e-04. Any ideas? xymon not graphing memory (FreeBSD 8 - AMD64)

Hello, We're trying to enable monitoring on our 64 bit FreeBSD servers and the memory information is not being graphed. I've corrected the issue in the freebsd-meminfo binary to change the sysctl variable to int, but that did not correct the graphing issue, as reported here: http://lists.xymon.com/archive/2006-October/010173.html I've also reported this as a bug on source forge but haven't gotten a response so I guess this is the best means of communicating errors. xymonlaunch is not updating after the first update

Hi All, migrating from bb to xymon to which the bbclient updates fine back to the xymon server. However once I stop the bb client and start the xymon client it seems the xymonlaunch is not updating after the first update. So after 30 mins client tests will purple. I have run a tcpdump on the client and no traffic on port 1984 is seen after the first update. Also tested external script bb-ntp on the client to which it behalves the same. Hobbitping/xymonping OR fping?

>From memory, I remember seeing Henrik suggest fping is better to use then the included (with Xymon) ping tool. I can't find any evidence of this in the mailing list archives, though. Is everyone running xymonping now successfully? Has anyone been forced to fping? Is there an advantage of one over the other? I ended up applying the patch by hand, but it only fixed some of my graphs not zooming properly. I will go back now and try your tar ball to see if it fixes all my zoom issues. The errors should be fixed in the new tarball. The zooming issue was a bug that my original patch introduced. Your problem is most likely caused by something else. What is the problem exactly and does it occur on different web browsers? My 4.3.7 install has the issue. As Josh replied, it's just a matter of extracting the files and running `patch original.c patch.c.patch` then re-running make and `make install`. The patches do throw a few non-fatal errors when applied to the Subversion tree (trunk r6890 and branch 4.3.7), so I've attached revised patches (tarball this time).
